Niacin (niacin) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Niacin (niacin)

NIACIN (NIACIN): Niacin is used with a proper diet and exercise program to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It is generally used after non-drug treatments have not been fully successful at lowering cholesterol. Niacin is also known as vitamin B-3 (nicotinic acid), one of the B-complex vitamins. It may be used with or without other medications. Lowering "bad" cholesterol/triglycerides and raising "good" cholesterol helps prevent strokes and heart attacks. Lowering fats may also help reduce the risk of pancreas problems (pancreatitis) in people at risk. In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking. Consult your doctor for more details. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

its the best if you need sleep

I try not to take this medicine when I don't have to, but it works the best when you take it as soon as you feel a migraine coming on, so I also can't delay in taking it too much. The reason I try not to take it is because it makes me forgetful. But it works like a charm most of the time. It is most effective if I take it with Tylenol. Once in awhile, 1 out of 20 times or so, it will make the headache go away but my headache will come back within 24 hours. But that is just a bad migraine, not the fault of Imitrex. If you get bad migraines, make sure your doctor gives you a cardiac health test before taking the drug for the first time. But this is really a miracle drug for migraine sufferers. I've also taken the injection type. I think it works faster, but the pill is more convenient to stash everywhere....at work, in all of my bags, and in the car.The key to taking Imitrex is to just take it and take a nap. The migraine will be gone when you wake up and you skip that ti

This medicine did nothing for me unfortunately. It works wonders on my mum, so I gave it a shot but sadly it gave me more anxiety/depression like symptoms. I would wake up in a pile of sweat every single morning and woke up and went to bed with headaches. There were no positive side effects for me and getting off of it was really rough - withdrawal symptoms were the same as the side effects plus brain zaps. Not the drug for me!

UTI, possible kidney infection

I have only been on the Rx for 6 days, My Doc added it to existing Rx of Norvasc 5mg and suspended my HCT 12.5 since it had it in there. I just left him a message to see if he can take me off it. Thank God this Website exist as it is not a in medical terms but Real People with real Problems. Thanks again.

Humira has changed my life in that I can walk and exercise without pain. Before Humira, there were times when I literally could not get out of bed. My husband would have to carry me to the bathroom during flare ups. However, I now get sick at the drop of a hat. I've had to take 3 rounds of antibiotics for sinus infections over the past 7 months. Also, I've had three other bad respiratory infections over the past year. I used to kick a cold in a few days but now they linger for weeks. I've missed more work this year being sick than I did back when I had flare ups. For now, I'm staying on Humira. However, if I keep getting sick, I'll have no other choice but to try another drug.

When I first started taking celexa I was a bit drozy. So I took it at bed time.

Mild blurred vision, well-being feeling

I recommend asking the Doc for something else. I was miserable from day one of taking this. Try lots of fluids and cranberry juice. Avoid the feeling of the "Flu". It's awful.

Jittery, sharp gas pains, abdominal pain within 4 hours of taking, extreme fatigue feeling in chest area, heavy heartbeat and/or increased feel of blood pressure (pounding sensation).
