Levo-t (levothyroxine sodium) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Levo-t (levothyroxine sodium)

I believe this medication has caused me to have liver issues and tummy issues, I've tried to go off it 2 times only to have my thyroid go crazy! And not to mention my mental health on this aswellI also got tinnitus about 12 years ago, I believe it’s from this medication. It’s hard to believ such a little pill can cause so much trouble in the body!! Not happy

I had been taking Levothyroxine for about 10 years. Started with 25 MG, was advanced to 75 MG. Upon moving, I misplaced the meds for months. Upon going back on 75 MG from 0 MG, I developed Tinnitus around the clock. That was 4 years ago. I asked Dr to prescribe natural Armour type (Thyroid brand). I took for 4 years - still had Tinnitus. Recently, for some reason, Dr prescribed Levo for me again (50 MG). Sometimes I think the Tinnitus is worse, and my hair is starting to fall out. I am looking for natural (no meds) solution - FIND THE CAUSE - NO BANDAIDS ON THE PROBLEM, PLEASE!

Went for a hearing test, and the Tech showed me a full page list of meds that could cause Tinnitus and hearing loss. Levo was not on it, but I am still convinced it caused the T because of the timing.

LEVO-T (LEVOTHYROXINE SODIUM): Levothyroxine is used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland. Low thyroid hormone levels can occur naturally or when the thyroid gland is injured by radiation/medications or removed by surgery. Having enough thyroid hormone is important for maintaining normal mental and physical activity. In children, having enough thyroid hormone is important for normal mental and physical development. This medication is also used to treat other types of thyroid disorders (such as certain types of goiters, thyroid cancer). This medication should not be used to treat infertility unless it is caused by low thyroid hormone levels. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Yes, Emsam is inexplicably flying under the radar. I'd been around the block from time to time with antidepressants for dysthymia or depression. Then I developed fibromyalgia and the treatment methods most doctors use are still in the dark ages. They don't understand fibro and they don't care. After fibro, I became intolerant to many meds that had been effective in the past. Or, those old meds no longer worked. I also have IBS (common in fibro patients) and everything ruined my stomach for days. Realizing that I needed to try something completely different from the mood stabilizers, SNRIs, SSRIs, etc. it was either transdermal selegiline or Viibryd. My doctor had a eureka moment when I suggested it. It won't go through my GI system, I don't have to watch my tyramine at 6mg, and he had samples right there in his desk that no other patient would've benefited from. They were almost expired, that's how little attention anyone in his practice paid. Since he was more familiar with MAOIs than new Viibryd, we gave it a chance.I'm not exaggerating: overnight my depression and anxiety began to lessen. Within a week I had sustained energy, improved mood, clearer thinking, and no dude effects. Here's the major breakthrough and the reason Emsam is seriously, for everyone's sake, grossly undervalued. Within 10-14 days I noticed that MY PAIN WAS GONE! Muscle aches, spasms, parasthesia, tender points, all GONE. I had my sense of humor and libido back. No more brain fog. Normal word rec

Anxiety, bad bad anxiety. shaking one day, feeling nervous, feeling keyed up, insomnia, racing thoughts, decrease in appetite

Heart rate & high blood pressure

Was prescribed this medication for a suspected UTI after a 5 day treatment of Macrobid did not work for my symptoms. I took a total of three pills before I started feeling HORRIBLE side effects. Started with weakness in my arms and then moved to my head which started spinning, my heart rate was very elevated, I felt super anxious, could not stay still due to the anxiousness, my jaw was stiff and painful. These lasted for about 8 hours. However, I continued to experience some of these side effects for SEVEN DAYS after stopping the medication after three pills. My nerves became very sensitive to touch (especially my face) my head felt like it was in a fog constantly and I felt light headed and still very anxious. The side effects finally subsided exactly one week after I stopped taking the pills. All the doctors I spoke to about my side effects told me the medication could not still be in my system. They were definitely wrong about that. This medication is horrible for people who do get side effects from it and it took very long to leave my system. I do not recommend this drug unless there is absolutely no other alternative.

Can not take MTX orally at dose of 20 mg. Started on IM MTX at reduced dose of 17.5 mgm. Had decrease in severe nausea, but still have fatique and weakness starting 3-4 hours after injection, lasting into most of the next day. MTX does work but still have periods of severe pain requiring the use of steroid injections. My psoriasis still still flares but is usually under good control unless I'm sick on antibiotics and miss a week or two of MTX until I'm better. Also on Bextra and have had pain releif but an excessive weight gain. Currently my Rhumatalogist is seeking approval for Remicade from my insurance, I only hope that I can afford the co-pays.

Withdrawal symptoms when missed dosage.

It works excellent for my chronic Gastritus. But I have to take 10 mg per day to minimize the weakness and aching it causes in my legs. PLEASE BE AWARE that this drug halts the absorption of iron and B12 from food and you MUST supplement if you get tingling/numbness/clumsy feet /dizziness/weakness.

Severe fatigue. Feeling nauseous. Pins and needles in hand, arm and feet. Low mood. Palpitations. Weight gain. Headaches. Severe lethargy.

With 15 mg Actos I'm also taking 2.5 mg Glyburide and 1000 mg Metformin. Will stop taking Actos today because I was doing fine with just Glyburide and Metformin.
