Facial swelling, blurry vision, more rash

After taking solodyn for 10 days I ended up with swollen face, horrible itchy rash, blurry vision. I stopped taking it 6 days ago and half of my face is still swollen. One of my nostrils is closed, one eye is blurry.i have facial numbness. I was instructed by a nurse to stop taking it and my doctor did not even bother calling me back even though I requested to speak to him. It says that it takes 16 hours to flush out of your system. BS. It's been 6 days and I am still suffering. Shame .

We are in a living hell due to this medication which triggered an autoimmune response in my then 14-year old son. He continues to struggle with daily abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and bowel issues 2 years after stopping this medication. His derm was very defensive and refuses to concede that this med triggered all of this, but she now has Solodyn listed as an allergy on his chart & will not place him on any oral meds for his acne due to his "sensitivity." My child never had any kind of GI issues prior to taking Solodyn, but ended up in & out of the hospital after taking it for about 1.5 months. He lost over 20 lbs & missed 2 months of school initially due to his extreme GI issues and he continues to suffer daily -- it breaks my heart! Do NOT take this medication, it is horrible. I would give anything to be able to turn the clock back & to never have consented to try this med!!!

Joint pain, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, itching, headache, elevated liver function tests.

This drug triggered autoimmune hepatitis in my 17 year old daughter. She was very ill and had to take a high dose of prednisone for 9 months to reduce the inflammation in her liver. Please stay away from this drug.

I was concerned when I developed acne and rosacea for the first time at age 44. After trying a few topical medicines that did not work, solodyn worked beautifully. It is expensive, though.

fever, swollen joints, joint pain - liver enzymes were 6 times higher than they should have been; stopped the drug 3 months ago and continue with joint pain; lab results confirmed that the symptoms were caused by the drug

TAKE IT OFF THE MARKET AND IF YOU ARE ON IT, GET OFF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER SAFER ALTERNATIVES TO THIS DRUG!!!!!!!!!!!

Continual yeast infection that does not respond to prescription medicine treatment as the anitbiotic is a long term daily medicine.

Medicine works great for my face. Little harsh on the stomach, but I often have tolerance or nausea with tetracycline products. The recurring yeast infections from the medicine are to the point of unbearable and I may have to discontinue use of the product

I was on other meds for other things so not sure what side effects this caused.

I was suffering from cystic acne. It was horrible. This cleared it up in about 2 months. I was maybe getting one small zit when I started my period but other then that all acne was gone. It was so great and a great alternative to more extreme drug like Accutane. I had to stop taking it due to insurance changes and it wasnt covered and my face broke back out again, maybe worse now. That is the bad part I guess. Also, its very expensive without good insurance. I miss it so much!

SOLODYN (MINOCYCLINE HYDROCHLORIDE): This medication is used to treat moderate to severe acne in people 12 years and older. It helps to reduce the number of pimples. Minocycline belongs to a class of drugs known as tetracycline antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that may make acne worse. This antibiotic treats acne that is thought to be caused by a bacterial infection. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

I started with neck and back pain/stiffness. Now I have bouts with Vertigo and soreness of muscles in my knee, hip and elbows. Slight bouts with breathing occasionally.

None, This produced the best results of any medication I ever tried.

I found my palms got sweaty in stressful situations and almost felt more panic. Definitely has messed up my sex drive and I don't like that AT ALL.

Dizzy, tired, sleeping all the time, weight gain. Felt like a slug. Added 5 mcg's of Cytomel which defeats the tiredness. Good combo.

Stopped taking it after ER visit doctor told me to stop. Took 4 days out of 5

I WILL NEVER TOUCH THIS STUFF AGAIN- I feel 100X worse than I did with the sinus infection - seriously - this medication should have better warnings of side effects- had I known this - I WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN THIS DRUG -

From someone whose coming from the Depo and has been taking the Depo for a whole year.. changing birth controls has probably been the worst decision. These pill suck and made me feel horrible. At first they were great, my period only lasted for about 3 days BUT the cramping was unbearable ! Not to include the EXTREME nausea .. It really didn't start until the beginning the second month of taking them. I literally thought I was pregnant, which was the complete opposite of what I wanted. The side affects were not worth it and I immediately quick taking them once I figured out why I was soooooo nauseous. Additionally I started having severe headaches, and my breast were swollen as well. As I said the only good side affects were the period lasting for three days and the weight loss, other than that I really did not like these pills at all.

metallic taste, headache, backache, sleeplessness, frequent urination beginning at about 10 days of treatment. Most bothersome to me was flushing - 8-10 times per day and during the night, I would get very hot and very sweaty. It only lasted a minute or two but was almost unbearable when it happened - felt like I was burning up. Was taking Flagyl 500 mg 3X/day and Cipro 500 mg 2X/day, so not sure which one was doing it. Had had both of them IV in the hospital for a week, and did not have side effects when it was IV, so assume effects are related to metabolism by the GI tract / liver / kidneys.

Feel absolutely exhausted. Want to sleep all the time. No energy and put on weight.
