Side Effects for Cephulac (lactulose)
CEPHULAC (LACTULOSE): This medication is a laxative used to treat constipation. It may help to increase the number of bowel movements per day and the number of days you have a bowel movement. The main side effect is not being able to sleep for very long, but I also have more energy and get more things done.
Helps me fall asleep. Usually helps calm & relax my mind & body when experiencing high anxiety & stress. It has lowered my blood pressure which was borderline high before I began my treatment. I have never experienced any withdrawal symptoms.
Well thank goodness for this site because I've been telling my husband that I have this awful taste in my mouth after I take the pills and I have it all night and still in the morning! I couldn't find that mentioned anywhere until I found this so thank you! I've had 3 days so far and I feel drastically better but reading about all the other side effects like shortness of breath is scaring me a bit. I have to take it for 14 days so now I'm afraid of what's coming next. I felt a bit nauseaus the first day but last night I took it with a ton of water and I feel better today.
Never worked completely as I'd hoped, daily nosebleeds and deteriorated my septum over the course of 90 days. I completely removed the scab and septum of an area as round as the end of my pinky. I was not warned of any side effects. I still have the septum in a plastic bag and showed it to my doctor. My doctor wasn't quite sure what to think. I was on the spray a couple more days while he consulted his ear/throat doctor friend when he called to ask that I immediately stop spraying with it.
The very first week nausea, and severe stomach cramping. Vaginal dryness, NO libido, hair started to fall out slightly more.
Massive night sweats, 5 lb. weight gain over 6 months time (which is a lot for me). Severe headaches, nauseated feeling,weak when stopping the medication...was in sheer hell for 2 weeks. Night sweats have stopped now that I'm no longer on it! Also, killed sex drive and ability to have orgasms. Celexa helped my depression, but not worth the long term side effects.
My kidney transplant has been a very good experience. Thankfully prograf and the other drugs have been very kind to me.

I am going to stop taking this drug, am supposed to take 500 mg. Every 12 hours.
