Side Effects for Copaxone (glatiramer acetate)

COPAXONE (GLATIRAMER ACETATE): This medication is used to treat a certain type of multiple sclerosis (relapsing multiple sclerosis-MS). It is a protein that is thought to work by preventing your immune system from attacking the nerves in your brain and spinal cord. This effect can decrease the number of periods of disease worsening (relapses) and prevent or delay disability. It is not a cure for MS. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

I don't understand the people on here bitching and complaining about the med. You should know your body well enough to know if a med is working for you or not. A lot of it sounds like bitter people just wanting something to bitch about. Get to know youself and take responseibility(sp) for your own issues.

anxiety, depression, worthlessness, racing heart, crying spells, didnt want to go out any where it was so awful i wish this on no one.

I hate this drug. It should NOT be advertised as though it's a miracle for Fibromyalgia. It's not. It's a horrible, scary drug

Have my period for 2 1/2 weeks since begining my first pack. Dr says to give it time for my body to adjust. Hoping for light manageable periods. No weight gain at all.

Fatigue attacks! Tiredness descends and I HAVE to go to sleep, but then I'm ok again. Always extremely cold or extremely hot. TIAs when coumadin levels have dropped and temporarily lost eyesight. Bleeding from bowels. A general fogginess/forgetfulness. Also, goes without saying, very bad bruising.

been taking carbamazepine for approx.40years now and developed a severe case of dry eyes.tried many different eye drops including restasis with very little relief.

I had taken this drug previously w/o any side effects. Took the generic version this time. NEVER AGAIN. I am still experiencing side effects 7 days after d/c meds.

Constant itching of the skin. Mostly on my breasts, arms, and right at the bottom of my stomach. Some gas.

Exhaustion, weight gain, some depression and slight rise in blood pressure. Feeling bloated and some difficulty breathing.

Aches in legs at night that prevent sleep.
