Side Effects for Linzess (linaclotide)

LINZESS (LINACLOTIDE): See also Warning section. Linaclotide is used to treat certain types of bowel problems (irritable bowel syndrome with constipation, chronic idiopathic constipation). It works by increasing fluid in your intestines and helping speed up movement of food through the gut. Linaclotide may improve stool texture and lessen symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain/discomfort, straining, and feelings of incomplete bowel movements. This medication must not be used in children younger than 6 years because of the risk of serious side effects. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Im very realistic when it comes to trying new meds, and I was placed on this in conjunction with 150mg of Wellbutrin XL. I couldnt wake up when I had to, was falling asleep at work even after two cups of coffee, had shortness of breath walking up the stairs (Im younger and in good shape/health). The side effects were so horrible, I would rather just be depressed, at least I could be able to work. I found it hard to drive, which was a little scary, and couldnt stand for longer than a few minutes before I would be feeling sick. And I was completely useless, couldnt hold a conversation, I might as well just slept all day. Havent felt this bad since the week I had to take Depakote. And of course, there was the bed wetting..I havent had that problem since I was like 6. I dont think its a coincidence, I stopped taking it and today I felt MUCH better. This may work for some, but DEFINITELY not for me.

Fatigue and, by the time I stopped it, an almost complete inability to eat or retain what I'd eaten. I was taking it with epirubicin and cisplatin so I'll put the other side-effects in the first few days after treatment down to them. But the nausea/loss of appetite went on continuously so was probably the oral Xeloda which was taken continuously.

I have only taken two doses but I did not see any relief and the doctor said it wasn't working. I did feel very tired for the first two weeks after taken medication. I am scheduled to have adhesions removed and a resection done on Tuesday. He said it is very unlikely that I will need a colonstomy bag. The doctor said I will be like a new person after four weeks. Can anyone give me advise or what to expect following surgery. I am only 42 years old and am very scared. I am a new grandmother and do not get to spend much time with her due to constant pain. Can the Crohn's return again?

I started having REALLY bad headaches the first day with this antibiotic! I just didn't realize it was a side affect of the drug. My daughter was taking it at the same time as me for a UTI also. She was VERY sick, felt terrible and a headache too. She also threw up several times over the next couple of days. We rarely take medications because I prefer all natural meds. Had NO IDEA all of our NEW problems were due to the meds. I WILL NOT nor will my daughter use it again. Sometimes I wonder are we being helped or being given more problems that will need treated later, and is this on purpose??????? VERY SAD!!!!

Ambien put me to sleep quickly but I woke up within 2-3 hours, and usually couldn't get back to sleep without taking another pill. I started taking half a pill before bed, then another half in the middle of the night. Recently I tried to stop taking it, but found I could not sleep AT ALL. My doctor has prescribed a small dose of amitriptilene (Elavil) for my chronic insomnia, and it seems to be working to keep me asleep all night.
