Combigan ( brimonidine tartrate; timolol maleate) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Combigan ( brimonidine tartrate; timolol maleate)

The worst Sinus Pain and Headache I have ever endured, The pain starts about 30 minutes after I insert the drops and stays with me for hours, the only thing that relieves the pain is Excedrin, It has brought my eye pressure down to 13, But once I stop the drops after my eye heals, I will ask for something else to manage my High Eye pressure if it ever returns, Hopefully it was just High due to the surgery.

Dry throat, dry cough, lethargy and depression

Very tired, almost as soon as taking it. I can only take it at night. Burns for about 10 min. After taking them.

Right eyelid itchy, red, swollen, scabby. I thought at first it was skin cancer, but from the comments here it seems a fairly common side effect. Not happy about this. It brings the eye pressure down, but still ...

Lot#82809 is causing around eye irritation.

So far only Lot#82809 is causing the problem. Reminds me of B&L contact lens wash problems of many years ago. I cannot contact Allergan directly.

Swollen, itching and cracking skin around eyes, inflamed and swollen tear ducts, inflamed eyes. All symptoms stopped within one week after halting Combigan.

Combigan did reduce eye pressure beyond what Lumigan did, but I had a reaction to something in the Combigan. This reaction is mentioned as being of low likelihood in the enclosure. "Rare" does not mean "Never"!

My hair has begun falling out after a month on combigan following cataract surgery. Apparently this is a little known side effect. Have been switched to xalatan so am hoping I stop shedding soon!

After 15mnths developed red eyes, itching eyelid margins, tear ducts and other areas around the eye, particularly below the eye where the skin became red and raw.

Caused Uveitis and Iritis which are being treated with steroid and dilatory drops which in turn are raising the eye pressures and the replacement (preservative-free) Cosopt drops are not strong enough to counteract this. Will probably end up needing surgery.

temporary use to lower pressure

Dry mouth, bad taste in mouth, feel a bit tired. Am getting some palpitations but not too serious as a deliberate cough or two stops them. I was a chronic A-Fibber for 10 years before surgical cure (mini-maze surgery 4 years ago), so am quite familiar with heart palpitations.

I am only taking this temporarily in one eye after cateract surgery because corticosteroid drops caused high ocular pressure. Would not want to take Combigan long term.

I am exhausted almost immediately upon administering the drops. I feel drained, lethargic, no energy at all.

I took Combigan 2 weeks ago for 2 days, felt exhausted, gloomy, so I stopped the drops and felt great once again. I waited 2 weeks, tried again, and immediately felt drained, just like before. I also take Xalatan with no ill effects. I will continue with that and substitute Dorzolomide for Combigan. I have 3 children, so I can't sleep all day, I need my energy back.

Puts me to sleep immediately, so I take it right before bedtime.

Been on it 2 years and only now have been experiencing redness in one of my eyes only. Stopped the drops in that eye only and redness goes away. Until now I've had no problems with it.

COMBIGAN (BRIMONIDINE TARTRATE; TIMOLOL MALEATE): This combination medication is used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open-angle type) or other eye diseases (e.g., ocular hypertension). Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness. This product contains brimonidine and timolol. These medications are used together when 1 drug is not controlling the pressure inside the eye. Brimonidine works by allowing better fluid drainage from within the eye and also by decreasing the amount of fluid formed in the eye. It belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha agonists. Timolol is thought to work by decreasing the amount of fluid formed in the eye. Timolol belongs to a class of drugs known as beta blockers. This medication is not recommended for use in children less than 2 years old due to an increased risk of serious side effects. Ask the doctor or pharmacist for more details. 'Brain Fog'- lots of fatigue, vertigo. Was ok with this at first then the bad effects kicked in after a year. Would be ok during my work week when I was focused but then wound up sleeping all weekend.

Basically it was not that great of a drug for me. I was taking this drug in the late Spring/early Summer of 2010.

I started at 6 mg and until I got to 12 mg I didn't really feel better mood wise.I think if I wasn't so tired and having so many headaches I'd feel pretty good right now. But I don't know how long I can stand the side effects.

Haven't had any major side effects. Had some bleeding two weeks before my next period, which did not show up. Lasted a few days. No hot flashes.

I really like the way Effexor made me feel. I was only taking a low dose (18 mg. 1/2 of a 37.5 mg. tablet). They don't make Effexor tablets anymore. The TMJ disorder is so bad that I quit taking Effexor.

anorgasmia, restlessness, nightmares, problems with concentration, abnormal vision

THIS WAS THE GENERIC VERSION OF MACROBID (Nitro mono/macro). I do not have any underlying health issues, not taking any other meds, and am an extremely health conscious person, normal weight, exercise, etc. This drug almost landed me in the ER last night. My mother has taken the brand name Macrobid with no problem, but this generic version is toxic: Period. I wasn't sure if initially I was just having the normal flu feeling because of the bacteria die off effect (Herxheimer), but what happened last night was a clear sign. I stopped taking it and this morning my fever is gone. I was hoping to put a positive comment after the course was done on here, but no go. I'm not a fan at all of antibiotics, but NEVER GO GENERIC even though it is commonly prescribed because it's cheaper. PAY THE EXTRA CASH TO GET SOMETHING DECENT.

Moderate pain in left thigh at 80mg dose. Reduced to 40mg level eventually where, side effects appeared to disappear.

I love my mirena. I have noticed a strange vaginal odor since having it put in but I can deal with it. Its a small price to pay I guess. Period stopped after 2 months. It has been pretty great overall

It's time for the FDA to insist that NASONEX include the effects of steroids in their labeling and patient literature. The reps love to say that with a spray it's not systemically absorbed, but the truth is, it's one of the MOST efficient ways to get a drug in your system.
