Cortenema (hydrocortisone) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Cortenema (hydrocortisone)

The accordion style applicator is terrible. Impossible to do myself!!!

Just irritation from inserting a foreign object. (enema nozzle)

Relieved a lot of rectal pain.

Just the fact that it was messy to use. I am going to ask my Dr. if I can do a tap water enema before the cortisone enema so that it is less messy.

Enemas are never any fun, even little ones like this..... It seems to be helping, though. I am using cortenema for 14 days in the evening until my next appointment.Be careful with this. It likes to sneak up and "OUT" later when you are not expecting it.

It was difficult to hold in. The next time I used it I first took a tap water enema to get everything out. This made it much easier to hold for the prescribed time. I think it also made it absorb better as the symptoms were less the second time around.

CORTENEMA (HYDROCORTISONE): This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., insect bites, poison oak/ivy, eczema, dermatitis, allergies, rash, itching of the outer female genitals, anal itching). Hydrocortisone reduces the swelling, itching, and redness that can occur in these types of conditions. This medication is a mild corticosteroid. BEGAN TAKING ACTONEL THREE MONTHS AGOI WAS SCARED TO DEATH AFTER READING THIS PAGE BUT FORTUNATELY I HAVE HAD NO SIDE EFFECTS SO FARI HAVE A DOUBT.. WHAT ABOUT THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAD NO SIDE EFFECTS AT ALL AND DO NOT WRITE HERE? MAYBE IT IS NOT SO BAD AS IT SEEMS AS FOR ME I AM FEELING CONFIDENT IT WILL HELP ME

The first 4 weeks I experienced slight knee pain. Then I began experiencing severe knee pain and could bareley walk. I noticed my knee popping when I walked. Going up and down steps was unbearable. My right leg swelled to double its size and I had lumps on the back of my legs behind my knees. I quit taking the crestor and slowly after one month the side effects have been going away. My legs still ache at times and my leg is still slightly swelled, but I can go up and down steps without much pain. There is still a small lump behind my knee but it is getting better. The popping in my knee is gone. I know for a fact all this was caused by the Crestor.

Fatigue, extreme nausea, constipation, chills, tremors, sweats, jaw pain, random aching pain(like middle of the arm, then knee), ear congestion/ringing/pain, dizziness.

I have tried about everything for depression and ocd. Things tend to work for a while and then the bottom falls out. I am a nurse and understand that there are many different reactions to different meds and stating that a drug is "evil" or "should be stricken from the market" is a personal opinion stemming from a personal experience. I have had bad side effects from a few and have seen bad side effects from meds. All I know about this one so far is that I am not nearly as tired, don't dread going anywhere, don't want to cause physical harm to my husband (sarcasm-ok) and am not so upset with myself about the weight gain from other antidepressants right now.

Elavil is working for me. I am so relieved to finally be pain-free for several days. I take 25mg in morning and 50mg at night. I drink a lot of water for dry mouth, no big deal. I don't feel tired when I am busy or active. I have suffered with chronic daily headaches and chronic migraine for at least 14 years. I now go several days without any pain. I do still get a minor headache that is easily treated with Advil or sleep and still get migraines about 4 per month versus 15. I can handle that. Imitrex works very well for my migraines. Medications work differently for everyone as you can see by all of the posts. I highly recommend trying Elavil for headaches and migraines. Good luck!

Do not allow any doctor to laugh off your concerns about Bactrim. Not ALL anti-biotics cause a fever, nausea and vomiting the way Bactrim does to those people who are allergic to it. You will also develop anaphalaxis (hives) after the fever, vomiting and nausea start. So be very careful. Avoid Bactrim at all costs. It's a dangerous sulfate.
