Side Effects for Zolpidem tartrate (zolpidem tartrate)

Symptoms: horrendous spikes in anxiety, terrible night itches, burning gums and tongue (trigeminal neuralgia spiked), increased sinus congestion, pounding heart, jitteriness, waking up feeling "wired" -- in other words, I was having an allergic reaction, which occurred when my pharmacy switched me to an oblong peach generic zolpidem. When I finally pinpointed the peach zolpidem, and switched to brand Ambien, the symptoms receded within three days, and now, a week later I'm getting back on keel with anxiety way down, no itches, sinuses clearing, neuralgia calmer. Thank heavens. I had thought the problem was with other drugs prescribed for me to counteract the symptoms I was experiencing -- drugs for anxiety, neuralgia, sinus congestion -- so I quit them, which lessened my symptoms, but it wasn't until I got off the peach pills completely that my symptoms began to disappear.

Do not take the peach generic. It's awful!

My insurance company forced me to get the generic of Ambien, manufactured by Teva. I don't believe it is as effective as the name brand. It did put me to sleep for ~5 hours in a row the 2 nights that I took it. On the second night, I took it in the 6 p.m. hour & slept until ~11:30 p.m. I then stayed awake until ~2 a.m., when I took another 5 mg. That only put me to sleep for 3 hours. After a period of clarity in the early morning, I felt spacy, anxious, emotional & had aches & pains most of the day. It feels like my left eye is seeing from a different depth than my right eye, as though I am about to get a migraine.

ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE (ZOLPIDEM TARTRATE): Zolpidem is used to treat a certain sleep problem (insomnia) in adults. If you have trouble falling asleep, it helps you fall asleep faster, so you can get a better night's rest. Zolpidem belongs to a class of drugs called sedative-hypnotics. It acts on your brain to produce a calming effect. This medication is usually limited to short treatment periods of 1 to 2 weeks or less. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

No side affects. I took meds as directed. I ate something light before I took the med. Only one time I felt shaky, nauseous after I had a cup of coffee because I was cold. I had the coffee after I took the med.

I also noticed it started creating back acne, which I never had. also made forehead and around eye brows break out more then it did before. My doctor said it will get worst before it gets better. COME ON! BAD DRUG! Caused more side effects then it was worth. After stoping the medicine 2 weeks later, my tongue buds are still inflamed, slowly getting better.

it "took the edge off" and stabilized me but the weight gain threw my sanity off so much it wasnt worth taking. probably bc im trying to recover from an eating disorder. anyway, my psych switched me to geodon 20mg 2x and im doing much better. lost 10lbs and am way less stressed about it.

I consulted the anti-coagulant clinic about the fatigue and was told this was not a side-effect that they recognised. However, the clinic had over-prescribed my dosage. INR was supposed to be between 2.0 and 3.0. My INR at the time I felt fatigue was 3.62. Once my dosage was reduced and my INR fell below 3.0 the fatigue went away. I suspect an overdose of warfarin causes fatigue and, as overdose is a misuse of the drug, this side-effect does not appear in the list
