Side Effects for Viread (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate)

Osteoporosis, another disease that keeps on giving.

Don't. Please. Don't. Take. This.Young men in their 20's get osteo! Old ladies aren't the only ones who get badly brittle bones. I have much distrust and contempt for pharmaceutical corps who benefit by destroying lives.

VIREAD (TENOFOVIR DISOPROXIL FUMARATE): Tenofovir is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. It helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. This lowers your chance of getting HIV complications (such as new infections, cancer) and improves your quality of life. Tenofovir belongs to a class of drugs known as nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). Tenofovir is not a cure for HIV infection. To decrease your risk of spreading HIV disease to others, do all of the following: (1) continue to take all HIV medications exactly as prescribed by your doctor, (2) always use an effective barrier method (latex or polyurethane condoms/dental dams) during all sexual activity, and (3) do not share personal items (such as needles/syringes, toothbrushes, and razors) that may have contacted blood or other body fluids. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Tenofovir is also used to treat a certain type of liver infection called chronic hepatitis B infection. It helps to decrease the amount of hepatitis B virus in your body by interfering with virus growth. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

therapeutic benefit is not quite as even as the company suggests. I experience a more significant medication effect 2-3 hrs after ingestion. Yet less anorexia than other stimulants and improved affect is also present in the absence of an antidepressant. I have not lost significant weight due to the medication but I find trainong for a 1/2 marathon alittle easier due to the increased boredom tollerance.

Insanity, confusion, anxiety, irritable, aches, tired, sleeplessness, nightmares, increased heart rate, hot flash.

for anxiety i take cymbalta and klonipin, i was prescribed wellubritin xl mainly for smoking cessastion as well as anxiety. i had gotten down to 1/2 pack a day on my own and i'm still there, as far as the anxiety goes the combination of drugs is good, however the weight gain in unacceptable, especially since part of my anxiety is a fear of being overweight again..........

My doctor insisted this was the only suitable birth control and told me the only side effect was a good one: that I'd stop getting my period. It concerned me. I wasn't told of any other side effect possibilities. When I ended up bleeding for the full 3 months I was told the bleeding would stop if I took another shot. I had been set on refusing another shot and only went to the clinic to find out what to do about the bleeding. They convinced me another shot was the best cure. After six months of non-stop bleeding I returned and they claimed that excessive bleeding was not a known side effect. It's been 7 yrs since the shot and my periods have never returned to normal.Anxiety and panic attacks: I used to be "zen" calm. Nothing got me riled. I got along with everyone, even people I didn't like. About 3 wks after my first shot I started flying off the handle over simple things. I was yelling at my child on a near daily basis. The panic attacks started shortly into the second shot. I have tried to take herbs and supplements to stabilise my moods but still have to explain to people when I'm having an attack so they don't take it personally. The depression went away after about a month of the last shot. I've gotten better at identifying when it's me and not them. This drug is horrible. It could have wrecked my life. It could have turned me into a "revolving door" drug user if I had chosen to keep trusting the doctors. 7 years later, I still can't say

I've only been on Zoloft for 2 weeks. Prescribed for serious depression. I feel drugged, just out of it for most of the day. seems to improve a little at night. also have jitters, more anxious. has anyone had a simliar experience?

No orgasms or extremely muted.Weight gain.Terrible drug.

WHY IS THIS STILL ON THE MARKET-- IT WAS KILLING ME!!!

I was on Plaquenil for a year and a half after being diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease at age 30. It worked so well that I almost forgot I had the disease. I went off Plaquenil when I became pregnant last year, and was off for 14 months. During pregnancy my symptoms were muted, and I was able to get along with no medication. About 4 months post-partum my symptoms came back with a vengeance: swelling hands, joint pain, general aching. After two weeks back on Plaquenil (and I realize it takes up to six weeks or more to work fully) I have a significant decrease in swelling of hands--and the pain is much less severe--on some days almost nonexistent. I hope things continue to improve, but already my condition is so much better.

I had a very strange reaction to Skelaxin. I took one pill on 3 separate occasions several days apart. After the first dose (that did not help my back at all) wore off I noticed my muscles felt very tight - especially in my legs. A couple days later I thought I'd try it again. I took one pill before going to bed. I woke up with pain in my right leg from my hip down to my calf, and muscles so tight I could barely bend over. I thought it was a fluke - that I must have just slept wrong or something. I had the same symptoms when I woke up for the next 3 mornings even though I had not taken any more doses. After the pain and tightness went away I stupidly thought I'd try one more time and took a pill before bed. That was over a week ago and I have been woken up by the pain in my hip and leg every morning since. Once I am up for awhile it subsides but comes back the next morning. I think this morning it may have been less painful so I'm hoping it's starting to go away. I will NEVER
