Viorele (desogestrel; ethinyl estradiol) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Viorele (desogestrel; ethinyl estradiol)

I took this because I have Abnormal Uterine Bleeding.I bled 2 years continuously before finding viorele and fixing the problem. I was prescribed 2 other different brands of pills that caused HORRIBLE side effects and Viorele was the only thing to stop the bleeding, regulate my periods and cause no bad side effects. Pills affect everyone differently but this was a life saver for me.

Mood swings, heavy periods, random cramping (excruciating), increased anxiety, urinary frequency, chest pains, rapid heart rate, panic attacks, increased discharge, migraines, dry eyes, etc.

I have never taken another brand name of birth control, so I can't say that this one is the worst one I've taken because I have nothing to compare it to. But, I can say that it has emotionally turned my world upside down and has caused me more heart ache and grief than it has ever helped me. Be wise when choosing your birth control- this is certainly not one that I would pick again or ever recommend to anyone.

Heavy periods, endometriosis, anemi

Mood stabilized, lighter periods followed by heavy periods.Breast tenderness, decreased libido, increased urination.

I use this to control heavy periods and treat anemia. I have an ovarian cyst and uterine fibroid.I'm doubtful this one helps with heavy periods in the long run and will switch to something else.

Severe depression, constant migraines, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, chest pains, dizziness, short-term memory loss, palpitations, dry eyes.

Usually I don’t have serious problems with most generics of Mircette. Viorele has the worst side effects in a birth control pill I've ever experienced. I wasn't able to function. On the positive note, it kept my skin clear and my pores tight. My husband said I look younger and less tired. Usually I have red eyes from birth control pill use but this did not make my eyes red, although it did made them dry. I wasn’t able to wear my contacts for a long time.

VIORELE (DESOGESTREL; ETHINYL ESTRADIOL): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin (desogestrel) and an estrogen (ethinyl estradiol). It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia). (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

After taking zantac 300mg for four days I experienced numbness in my legs and pain down both arms. The gastro doc took me off of it, but my liver enzymes are very high and I have to go for many procedures to see if I have liver damage. In addition, I also need cardiac exams to rule out a heart attack.

NO LONGER WILL I TAKE THIS, DO NOT TAKE IF SENSITIVE TO ANXIETY. I FIND DIET N EXERCISE WORK BEST FOR ME WITH HEART BURN.

I feel a little bit far away from my self. THe pain is better though.

Definitely take at bedtime, it causes dizziness, light headedness, feel fine by morning except for the uncomfortable bloating

On day one I had no side effects. Day 2, underneath my armpit began to hurt, like I had hurt a muscle. I didn't think anything of it. Day 3, when I woke up my right shoulder was in excruciating pain. I can not raise my arm above my head or write on a chalk board ( I am a teacher). I am 31 years old and have never injured my shoulder and have done nothing recently to injure it. It even urts to breathe. I am no longer taking Cipro. How long does this go on? Should I call me Dr? I keep seeing where Dr's are denying the drugs side effects.

My depression is finally manageable! I think it has really helped me live a 'normal' life these past few months. HOWEVER--I was thin before I started taking the medicine and have had significant weight loss since starting it. This would be fine if I weren't already a size 2--but now I get asked by friends and family if I have an eating disorder! It's annoying. I have to make sure to eat a certain amount of calories in a day to stay healthy. I feel when my stomach is hungry, but I really have no desire to eat. So make sure to keep up with the good calories even if eating feels like the last thing you want to do. I recommend protein smoothies!

My deepest regret with taking this GM synthetic analogue was that I didn't make the connection sooner regarding the debilitating side effects I was experiencing.Since changing back to Porcine Animal Insulin I have got my life back - my energy levels have returned, muscle & joint pain disappeared, lost that foggy toxic feeling, lost weight & hypo symptoms have returned.

Profound dizziness and, for the first time in my life, depression

Nobody on this site mentions the egg-sized lumps. I know it's trivial compared with the disability but it's so depressing. I always fantasized that I could get some function back with medical advances, but I know I'll be stuck looking bizarre forever because scar tissue is permanent. Hate to look at myself. Am I the only one with this trouble??
