My side effects are bleeding. Sometimes cramps occur but the bleeding is my problem.
Swelling in foot and ankle, weight gain/water retention, milk supply decreased, mood swings.
Within just 2.5weeks taking vienva I had gained 25lbs after just losing 35lbs after having my daughter 6weeks prior to starting pill. My foot and ankle also would swell up. My milk supply dropped where I am forced to hunt for formula and breast feed. With all this my mood was going up and down. I am heavy set sitting at 272lbs at 5'6 so I am sure that plays a part in what my side effects are.
Initial mild spotting; some cramping if I forget to take it.
I'm using Vienva to eliminate extremely bad premenstrual depression (by way of taking it continuously to avoid menstruating at all), and it's done the job pretty much perfectly. I occasionally notice cramping if I forget to take it one day, but even when that does happen it's pretty mild.
VIENVA (ETHINYL ESTRADIOL; LEVONORGESTREL): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin and an estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Worked well for me other than a few minor side effects. Started taking within 24 hours of developing the flu and fever gone by day 3. I had mild case due to having the flu shot.
Wish I (daughter) had found this site sooner, could have saved my mother and family grief of taking this. Please read the 88 mostly bad reviews of side effects. Cleared UTI but wasn't worth the hellish side effects.
None-I take 200 mg when needed for migraine.
i had extreme bloating in my belly, and pain, my breast got very large and hurt, so fat my clothes would not fit, i had very bad gas. and i was very emotional, not emotional from the gas just emotional! But hey i guess it is for a good cause.
I now realise why l need to continue taking them (75mg daily)as the anxiety soon comes back! The withdrawal syptoms are the worst though!!!!
immediate feeling of discontent. couldnt sleep at all throughout the night. alternate feelings of cold and hot. mood swings and feelings of depression. when it says "non drowsy" it means it...this stuff makes you crazy. definitly should not be OTC!
Severe joint pain in fingers,knees and hips
