VELIVET (DESOGESTREL; ETHINYL ESTRADIOL): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin and an estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia). (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

If I knew that this drug would give me crippling anxiety and depression I would have never considered it. Before I found out this was the cause I was a complete mess because I thought I was going crazy. I had an anxiety attack out of nowhere and spiralled in a matter of days. Its been less then a week and now I need to go to a therapist to deal with these side effects. Not to mention a few weeks earlier I was having alot of issues swallowing and almost choked which I think is the result of saliva loss.

I haven't had any negative side effects since I've started using Tri-Sprintec 28. I have had weight gain but I really needed it. I can't just blame it on the pills. When I first started taking my pills I also got a new boyfriend, and I have tried to eliminate all my stress at home. Which has gone very well. I used to always fight and argue with my ex. Work stress is very minimal.

There are many many lawsuits and pending lawsuits against the manufacturers of Fosamax for the harm it has done to so many people. The website, womantowoman.com has been very helpful toward my understanding of the conditions Osteopenia and Osteoporosis.

Agitation, irritability, dry throat, cough, brain fog/spaciness, mild head, on the verge of a panic attack, but sleepy.

severe PMS, pregnancy prevention

If you are sensitive to estrogen, this is the pill for you! Regular birth control caused me anxiety, mild depression, and horrible cramping the entire month. I have never felt better. Besides some mild bloating and night sweats, that gets better as I am on it longer, I have no complaints!

loss of sex drive, dryness, pain during/after sex, burning/tearing sensation

After taking Xyzal the first night as prescribed, I was unable to sleep, had strange dream-like hallucinations, rapid heartrate, sweating, then a feeling I was being drenched in ice water followed by a shortness of breath and clammy skin. Husband took me to ER thinking I was having a heart attack. Scary little pills!!!

I was prescribed this medication by a psychiatrist at an outpatient program I was in for one day. This doctor did not explain to me what the drug was for or what the side effects were, and it was not until I started seeing a more responsible psychiatrist that I learned about this drug. It was a highly innappropriate drug to be prescribed for my symptoms, and the side effects (weight gain in the short term, and tardive dyskinesia in the long term) were absolutely not worth it for me, and not for most people. It did let me sleep, which was why I continued taking it for so long and even started again after quitting. It didn't help my anxiety or depression.

I had severe aching in my joints, pain in my back and neck. Also, a headache, and extreme chills and could not get warm. I was very tired, and weak, and felt dizzy like room was spinning. The side effects were horrible for 3 days, and started to subside on the 4th day. Thank goodness it's only one shot!!
