Side Effects for Veletri (epoprostenol sodium)
The only side effect after 6 months is pain in my feet.
nausea, diarrhea, headache, jaw pain, muscle ache and fatigue
Veletri is IV infusion medication--a person has a permanent IV port put in chest and wears a pump 24/7, permanently with this medication. While it does work on lowering and stabilizing pulmonary hypertension, the side effects are horrendous. I will be discussing switching to a different medication with my doctor at next appointment as the side effects have not lessened in the 2 years I have been on the medication. Quality of life is becoming a real issue for me.
VELETRI (EPOPROSTENOL SODIUM): This medication is used to treat high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension). It helps to increase your ability to exercise and improve symptoms such as shortness of breath and tiredness. It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels (arteries) in the lungs and other parts of the body so that blood can flow more easily. It works, but the side effects suck! I wanted to gag everytime I smelled food that I usually tend to love !
No appetite; had to force myself to eat a couple bites a day, bad muscle aches esp. in hips and knees, extreme fatigue, and a rash that eventually covered most of my body, swollen fingers. Worse, I have permanent nerve damage in most of my fingers. Two of which are totally unusable because of extreme numbness and extreme pain; the left pointer and middle fingers. My right middle finger is real numb and painful, too. My two left "peace" fingers hurt even if one of my cat's tails rub against them, or their bodies of course! This hurts enough to wake me out of a deep sleep even. Ditto, for pulling a blouse over my hand. I have to make a fist to protect my hand as much as possible. This sends me to the roof. I cannot clip or file my nails without extreme pain. I can no longer touch type for pain and numbness reasons. My life is almost reduced to a hellish existence worrying if someone will run into my fingers, grab my hands, or even brush against my fingers.
been taking it for 6 weeks now....very emotional nausea (which is scary right now) lower abdominal pain...breast tenderness...
I was prescribed Ativan at a clinic after hyperventilating, feeling unable to breathe due to respiratory infection. I find it somehow has an effect on my sinus congestion and shortness of breath, and relaxes me to breathe better. I'm working with doctors to get at the root of my illness, then I would like to be off this drug. Though, I don't know what I'd do without it right now.

only taking 2 at night to help w/sleep. did at first but after 2 days keeps me awake all night. hysterical crying/fear in afternoons despite only taking 2 at night. once I get to sleep have started having nightmares. doesn't seem to help for either pain or sleep at this point. will be talking to doctor about a med change.
My son was taking this and at 5'1' only weighed 68 lbs. He was agressive, ageitated, and emotionaly volitle at the drop of a dime. After taking him off of it, we have our beautiful son back. He has developed his own coping mechanisms for the ADD and is now an awesome 108lbs. and is 5'5".
After the first few days, there was headaches, and just feeling sick. I stopped smoking and everything went away. By the end of the one month supply of Chantix I was done and haven't smoked since.
