Toviaz (fesoterodine fumarate) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Toviaz (fesoterodine fumarate)

Dizziness, unable to focus, just generally feeling weird

This is an update to my previous review (2010 I think?). I am out of remission with my IC again, and I'm finding almost all the drugs I took for it last time around are reacting a little differently this time for some reason. Toviaz still works well, though now it can make me REALLY dizzy and spacey, which I don't remember happening last time at all.

Hallucinations, memory loss, difficulties with situational awareness. Dementia-like symptoms.

Toviaz was a disaster for my mother. Her urologist started her out at 4 mg, which had little effect, so he increased the dose to 8 mg. At this dose, Mom experienced hallucinations, memory loss, and with what I would call difficulties with situational awareness. (For example, she and my dad were on vacation and she asked him one evening what time he had to milk the cows the next day. Dad grew up on a farm, but Mom and Dad are retired and Dad hasn't lived on a farm since he was a boy.) Mom also had difficulty with mechanical things, such as operating the remote, microwave, car locks, etc. Our family doctor thought she had some sort of rapid-onset dementia. We followed up with her neurologist, fearing the worst, and he asked a raft of questions and did a number of tests. Tests were all negative, but there had been one recent change in meds: Toviaz. "I don't want you on Toviaz!" the neurologist exclaimed. Mom discontinued the Toviaz in September and was back to normal by the end of November.

The med worked for overactive bladder, but also constricted the urethra, resulting in decreased rate of urinary discharge and requiring much more time. With a cytoscopy or cath, the urethra opens up, and discharge rate is normal again.

My urologist recommended I try this over Enabelex, and I'm so glad I did. It does have much fewer side effects than Enablex. Doesn't dry me out as much all over, but really keeps me from having to get up to pee as much at night (the main reason I take it). Only downside is there is no generic.

TOVIAZ (FESOTERODINE FUMARATE): This medication is used to treat an overactive bladder. By relaxing the muscles in the bladder, fesoterodine improves your ability to control your urination. It helps to reduce leaking of urine, feelings of needing to urinate right away, and frequent trips to the bathroom. This medication belongs to the class of drugs known as antispasmodics. I didn't feel dead on Lamictal (it was the first anti-psychotic/stabilizing med that I haven't felt dead on) but I didn't really feel any different on it (I have a history of problems with meds not working)

Initially tingling in feet, inability to taste carbonation...currently skin problems (rash, acne), alopecia, fatigue, weight loss/filling up quickly

I have been on the shot for 2 years now. I am due for my next one on June 1st and Im not going to get it. I have had extrremly bad headaches to the point to where all I could do is just sit in my room with the tv and all the lights off cause the littlest noise or light will bother me. I am currently on medicine for my headaches because they are so bad. Before I started the shot I was so skinny I weighed about 95 pounds and now I am 125! I got on the shot right before I graduated (07) so I kinda thought a little big of the the weight gain came from what people call the freshman 15. I havent had a period at all!!! I have no sex drive at all and I also have vaginal dryness.. Thats kinda causing a problem for me and my boyfriend of 3 years.. He really see the difference in our sex now that I am on the shot I feel bad sometimes because I dont want him to think that I am not intersted in him any more. I have been having abdominal pain for about a year now and I even went to the dr's for it and asked if it could be caused by the shot and they told me no! I love being on the shot because I dont have to worry about getting pregnant and I dont have to worry about periods but the headaches is the worse and the abdominal pain is starting to be really bothersome so I wont be taking my next shot!

depression. add. chronic fatigue

Hot and cold flashes, flushing in face, agitation, panic attacks (never had before), depression worsened, anxiety heightened.

restrict use and perhaps remove from market

Yeast infection, irritability, more anxious, nausea, sleeplessness, headaches, emotional, loss of appetite. Less acne.

I can feel a difference .. my hot flashes are gone I know it will take using the patch longer to fully get rid of them. I now only I get the sweats (not as uncomfortable as a full hot flash) but still not great. The patch lasted 2 days on my abdomen will try the butt area with a tegaderm patch on it. I will update when I am on this patch longer.

took for 7 months, gained 40 lbs. been off for 1 and a half months and still no period. i want a period so maybe this huge stomach can get smaller. i am not so tired anymore. still no sex drive. breasts are better. underarms still swelling and legs get swollen from time to time. i am giving up, having my tubes tied and the NovaSure done. $1200.00 is worth it.

This pill has me up the wall. My aunt worned me about this pill and told me not to take it but i went ahead and gave it a try. Here I am 3 months later and I am hating life and always fighting with my husband. On top of it all just found out Im 5 weeks pregnant.I do not recomend this pill.
