STREPTOMYCIN SULFATE (STREPTOMYCIN SULFATE): This medication is used with other medications to treat active tuberculosis (TB) infection if you cannot take other drugs for TB or if you have a type of TB that cannot be treated with other drugs (drug-resistant TB). Streptomycin belongs to a class of drugs known as aminoglycoside antibiotics. It works by killing the organisms that cause the infection. This drug may also be used to treat other serious infections (e.g., Mycobacterium avium complex-MAC, tularemia, endocarditis, plague) along with other medications. I am currently giving this to my 10 month old after he tested positive for the Flu. My older son (3) gave it to him and it was a long road to recovery for him. Hospitals, doctors etc. So, I had to weigh my options...Give this to my baby or fear he would be hospitalized. I am on day 4 and he has had a rough time with it. He is aggitated, I can tell his tummy hurts and the first dose made him vomit.

Severe headache and stomach ache. The feeling that I am "climbing out of my own skin". I argued with my doctor that I despise this medicine from past uses, but he said to try again. HUGE mistake. I will NEVER take this again, and I will be tapering off drastically to get off of it permanently. My ears are still ringing and may even be worse. This horrible drug has completely ruined my vacation. Oddly, taking prednisone 3,3,3,2,2,2,1,1,1,1 works FAR better and has zero side effects except hunger. It is one thing to take dosepack for the first time and realize its not for you, but for the doctor to tell me to try it again and that it would be fine was my own stupid fault for listening. It is unfortunate that it helps a small minority of people since it is devastating to those who cannot take it without severe and extreme misery. Useless drug. Just say NO!
Definitely weight gain-15 lbs in 3 months and rising unless I take two daily walks, work out at the gym and run a marathon. It's like what others are saying on this site....the weight stays and will not go away! the other side effect that I notice and it probably why I'm so tired all the time is because of my constant runs to the bathroom to urinate....most times it's 2-3 times per night while I wake up from a deep sleep! I feel sluggish, lethargic and am smiling less each day because I think I'm depressed now too.

This was recently added by my doc to supplement Zoloft 200mg and Klonopin 3mg. It was supposed to help me sleep. At first it was ok, but now I've noticed an increase in anger, anxiety, I'm shaky, queasy and it has never helped me sleep the night. I have horrible, graphic, vivid dreams and nightmares when I do sleep. It has sent me in to full blown panic attack mode and I am refusing to take it anymore.
Was taking Protonix for 7 years, switch to Nexium. Much better stuff. Holds acid down better.
