SIMVASTATIN (SIMVASTATIN): Simvastatin is used along with a proper diet to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It belongs to a group of drugs known as "statins." It works by reducing the amount of cholesterol made by the liver. Lowering "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides and raising "good" cholesterol decreases the risk of heart disease and helps prevent strokes and heart attacks. In addition to eating a proper diet (such as a low-cholesterol/low-fat diet), other lifestyle changes that may help this medication work better include exercising, losing weight if overweight, and stopping smoking. TELL OTHERS TO AVOID THIS DRUG!!!!!!!! I wish my doctor had told me about possible side effects. I don't even consider what we are experiencing as posssible side effects. Most side effects aren't so disabling as these. WHEN DOES IT GET BETTER AND WHAT HELPS?
I think it's over-prescribed and would never recommend anyone take this. Some hospitals sneak it into their patients' daily pills, without even consulting family.
I used this in combination with Amoxicillin and Clarythromicin (antibiotics) to treat H Pylori infection. While I was taking the medication, I felt very few of the side effects. After stopping the medication for about a week, the side effects really kicked in for about a week or two and then subsided.
would not take this drug again for any reason

It's only been one month and the hot flashes are ridiculous!! But, I guess it's better than the horrible pain I was in from the endo. I just really hope it's all worth it at the end of the 6 month treatment!! Any suggestions for the hot flashes? please email me if so!! I already have a fan on my desk at work, but it just doesn't kick the hot flashes!
