Side Effects for Sensipar (cinacalcet hydrochloride)

I have gotten all kinds of strange effects leg cramps some in my.lower back and inner thighs making it almost impossible to walk, numbness in my hands as well as cramping.

Lowered PTH levels from 1400 to 300, no noticeable side effects. Works very well if taken religiously at largest meal of day. Will only work if you take phosphorus binders with anything you ingest. Should be monitored more than 1X monthly, always scared of doing harm to thyroid if change in eating habits.

High PTH due to kidney failure

Lots of acid stomach and nausea with this drug. Also didn't do anything for my PTH levels. Just makes me feel sick. It's offle.

Hoping the Docs will take me off it. Eating fatty foods before taking it is supposed to help. It doesn't, at least not for me.

SENSIPAR (CINACALCET HYDROCHLORIDE): Cinacalcet is used to treat increased amounts of a certain hormone (parathyroid) in people with long-term kidney disease who are on dialysis. It is also used to treat increased amounts of calcium in people with an overactive parathyroid gland or in people with cancer of the parathyroid gland. Cinacalcet works by decreasing the amount of parathyroid hormone, calcium, and phosphorus in your body. Having the right amount of these substances in your body helps to prevent bone disease. Horrible sulfur burping, pain in upper abdomen, headache, indigestion, fatigue, stomach cramps, gas and generally feeling awful! Could not sleep at night for when laying down acid would come up. I have noticed my numbers are coming down but is it worth feeling so terrible!

Took a pill and my migraine was gone within half an hour. Half an hour after the back of my neck really started to hurt. About 40 minutes after that, my whole right arm and fingers went numb/tingly. Soon after that the right side of my neck and face went numb/tingly. My tongue felt slightly numb/tingly as well. It lasted about 15 minutes and now Im left with neck pain again and kind of a "high" feeling.

MY ELDERLY FATHER TOOK THIS FOR A FEW YEARS BEFORE I KNEW. He was making his own visits to the doctor. I am a nurse and knew about the dangers of it, so when I found out 2 years ago I tried to wean him down with the help of the pharmacist. My father was hooked and refused, but when he started falling I had had enough. We took his ativAn and brought it over to him several times a day and tried to wean him down. He slept 24 hours a day and only got up to eat and take his med. He became so deconditioned he could hardly walk. He became suicidal and very paranoid (the phone, the neighbours, etc) He fell again and we sent him to the hospital where he spent several weeks going through detox. It was horrible to watch! He then went to a nursing home where he fell the first day and developed some serious bloodclots in his leg. Due to this, and his deconditioning he doesn't walk at all anymore. His mind is now clear, he is awake all day, and could be home if he could walk.

Insomia, constipation, headache, occasional palpitation.

itching, feeling like nothing bothers me and i can accomplish anything. hard to poop sometimes.

I would not recommend this medicine.

I was prescribed to this for insomnia... after taking 50mg at night, I was so dizzy the next mornings and it dragged on to the afternoon. I couldn't maintain my normal work-out routine without giving up in the middle of it because I was mentally and physically drained for no reason.

extreme dizziness to the point that I could not walk or stand up, tingling in extremities, difficulty breathing, extreme stomach pain

I have been taking Wellbutrin for depression for several years & have been very happy - no weight gain or sexual side effects. Today I was (finally) diagnosed with Bipolar II & will begin Depakote tonight before bedtime - hopefully it will be a good addition to my current treatment.

Total amnesia from the time of injection till I woke up. This was terrific... I didn't and still don't want to remember the procedure. I remember everything that happened before injection and right after it was over, somewhere around 30 minutes.
