Ramipril (ramipril) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Ramipril (ramipril)

Went years thinking that there were no side effects until I found this Ask a Patient forum and discovered that there were numerous side effects that I had attributed to other factors. Notable effects have been tingling and numbness in my left fingers and hand. General malaise/fatigue leading to reduced physical activity, and definite drop in libido.

While this drug did maintain my blood pressure at adequate levels that satisfied the doctor, and myself, I was however unaware of the costs my body was having to pay for that 'benefit'. Once I discovered the undesirable side effects, that were conveniently not brought to my attention, I determined that I should become proactive in dealing with the root cause of my hypertension, that being a poor diet and lack of exercise, and relying on someone else's artificial answer for the high blood pressures that I had brought on myself. A proper diet, exercise, and bringing my weight back down to normal levels were all that I needed to do to eliminate the need for the medication that I had been taking for 8 years. I AM NOW FACED WITH A WHOLE NEW SET OF PROBLEMS. What to do with all this new energy and renewed sex drive. I'll gladly settle for resolving those issues.

RAMIPRIL (RAMIPRIL): Ramipril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Ramipril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack. It may also be used in high risk patients (such as patients with heart disease/diabetes) to help prevent heart attacks and strokes. This medication may also be used to treat heart failure in patients who have had a recent heart attack. Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor and works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

this medicine has been fabulous for me. since i've been on celexa (about 3 years) i have had maybe 2 or 3 panic attacks during that time. before that i was having 2 or 3 a day. i definitely recommend people to try this out and see if it works for them. and also - if it doesn't work, don't give up. there are other medications out there they may be better for you personally!

Severe migrane that does not ease. Flashes of nausea, dizziness, shaking hands, pain in lower right side, pain in abdomen, pain in ribs, confusion, forgetfullness, anxious, panic attacks, pain in right arm, right hand tingling, short of breath at times. Is helping a little but not worth the side effects.

ANXIETY, NERVOUSNESS, INSOMNIA, IRRITABILTY (started mild, evolved into constant inner rage), DEPRESSION, FEELINGS THAT NO ONE UNDERSTOOD ME, LOW LIBIDO. I am normally a happy, smiling, relaxed person who sleeps easily and laughs a lot. I even laughed at drug commercials where the narrator rattles of a gazillion side effects. Laugh no more! On Claritin I was okay at first - a little anxious & nervous, but no big deal. It turned into constant anxiety, a desire to bicker over every little thing, anger at everyone & everything, and waves of despondency. I could only sleep a couple hours at a time, but I was soooo tired I could barely stand it! My poor husband, I was a walking whackjob! Plus, I had no sex drive at all - Zero, zilch! After approx 1 month of taking Claritin daily, I stopped. It's been 10 days now, and I feel back to my normal self. I have my sinus problems again, of course, but that was expected.

I can't wait until I am off these horrible pills or until I can switch to heparin. I hate needles but would rather stab myself twice a day than feel this way ever again.

Muscle Spasms from pinched nerve

Nothing else has worked so well to reduce my bs to manageable levels. Was hypo-ing too often so requested Dr. to reduce dose - put me on amaryl instead, and it is next to useless for me. Amaryl is gentler so if you can manage with that then better, but if not glucovance is worth a try but make sure you titrate it carefully (start with lowest does and work up to find right level - may change over extended use, so look then to lower)

Muscle aches in my arms dizziness confused and terrible stomach problems with diarrhea this is a bad drug I am stopping taking this any trying natural ways to lower my cholesterol this drug makes you feel worse and is not good to many side effects

It was almost as if I had a stroke, My fingers, hands, and legs were non stop moving. Fingers were curled under. I could not work because I could not remember my job!

I have experienced a little bit of a loss in my sex drive but otherwise these pills have helped a lot. My periods are shorter and easier to manage. I haven't experienced any weight gain because of the pills, and I'm less irritable. I'm overall satisfied with micronor.

If your doctor prescribes this for a non life-threatening infection, ask for another type of antibiotic. I do not understand why it is being prescribed for basic sinus infections and UTIs.
