Side Effects for Pradaxa (dabigatran etexilate mesylate)

PRADAXA (DABIGATRAN ETEXILATE MESYLATE): Dabigatran is used to prevent stroke and harmful blood clots (such as in your legs or lungs) if you have a certain type of irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation). Dabigatran is also used to treat blood clots in the veins of your legs (deep vein thrombosis) or lungs (pulmonary embolism) and to reduce the risk of them occurring again. This medication may also be used to prevent these blood clots from forming after hip replacement surgery. Dabigatran is an anticoagulant that works by blocking a certain substance (a clotting protein called thrombin) in your blood. This helps to keep blood flowing smoothly in your body. Dabigatran should not be used to prevent blood clots from forming after artificial heart valve replacement. If you have had heart valve surgery, talk to your doctor about the best medication for you. Do not stop taking any medication, including dabigatran, without talking to your doctor first. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

I can't believe this drug is even on the market!

After taking Thorazine and Mellaril and many other life-stomping drugs, my doc suggested Lithium. The difference is like night and day. The wonderful feeling of endlessly floating on the water is like no other. I do wish my hair wouldn't fall out., but I guess it's a small price to pay for a lifetime of not living in the pit of depression.

I was taking it because I had a severe allergic reaction to a certain weed and the other Claritin medication which I prefer wasn’t an option. My breathing was severely decreased and my nose was so congested so I ended up taking it. The first hour or so I noticed that I could breathe again, my dizziness improved (I have a balance disorder) and things were okay until I started to get all of the side effects. I was in major pain and got really cold and tired so I bundled blankets on top of myself and got comfortable (in some weird way I felt like I had the flu). Eventually I started to get a shooting pain in my left arm and my joints got progressively achy and then I got a bad case of vertigo which later on made me feel like I was falling. I eventually fell asleep and woke up in a puddle of sweat with a horrible headache and minor aches, and the tingly sensation was still there. Also my balance disorder makes me feel like I’m rocking and after waking up after taking this medication that sensation became more intense.

Tightness and extreme discomfort in shoulders and lower back. Also some fatigue which is not normal for me. After driving for forty minutes experienced "stiffness" getting out of the car.

I took my first dose of Actonel on a Tuesday. That was the same day my doctor gave me samples because they diagnosed me as having Osteopina. Woke up Wednesday morning feeling like I had the worst flu ever. I thought to myself, that's too bad, I felt so great yesterday. Now it is Friday, and I ache everywhere. I started thinking, I'm going to check out side effects of this drug. (Now I start thinking....dumb)I find this site, and am amazed. We all have the same symptoms. Coincidence, I think not. I just pray this pain goes away. I'm actually very scared at this point. I have always been pretty healthy. Now I feel like I'll never be the same again. If anyone has same experience, please let me know if your pain went away, and how long it took. Thanks.

I have suffered through these uncomfortable side effects for the last close to 7 days, and I ended up cancelling any appointments this week from just being unable to function being on Metronidazole. As bad as it was, I feel finally the BV is gone.
