Side Effects for Neo-rx (neomycin sulfate)

NEO-RX (NEOMYCIN SULFATE): This medication is used to decrease the risk of infection after certain intestinal surgeries. Neomycin belongs to a class of drugs known as aminoglycoside antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria in the intestines. Neomycin may also be used along with a special diet to treat a certain serious brain problem (hepatic encephalopathy). This condition is caused by too much of a certain natural substance (ammonia). Normally, the liver gets rid of ammonia, but liver disease can cause too much ammonia to build up in the body. This medication helps treat encephalopathy by killing certain intestinal bacteria that make ammonia. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. I know you're supposed to wait 3 months to get into your system for side effects to subside, but there is no way to live 3 months like this.I have NEVER had extreme cramping. My periods have always been incredibly mild. I now understand what some women go through and don't know how they deal! I've had 2 miscarriages and the cramping I had today was worse than that.I got a prescription through the pill club because I dont currently have insurance and needed BC. I will be calling Planned Parenthood tomorrow to talk with them. I have spent all day in bed with painkillers just DULLING the pain.I've never had such an adverse reaction to BC in 20 years that I've been on it.To women who regularly deal with debilitating periods: I am SO sorry you have to go through it. It is AWFUL. I dont wish that on my worst enemy

went off of Mirapex for just a few days (to try a different yet conflicting med), extreme suicidal thoughts and was ready to self-admitt to be hospitalized. Went back on, was fine.

Started with 25 mg & tapered it down to 12.5 mg. Tried to use it on alternate days but that failed.

sore throat, weak legs, can't do a proper wee!

My toenail infection is disappearing and my skin complaint which looked like ringworm has gone.

Severe nausea, fatigue, severe depression, anxiety, severe insomnia and occasional diarrhea. Was prescribed this due to abdominal pain and possible infection. Experienced nerve twitches so bad I ended up in the hospital. WOULD NOT TAKE AGAIN. I just stopped and felt like I was going crazy until I saw others have experienced twitches and nerve issues as well. Awful experience, waiting for it to wear off.

Night sweats after several months

Constipation, increased creatinine and potassium level in blood test, which indicate kidney problem, insomnia, swollen joint and itchy skin
