Myzilra (ethinyl estradiol; levonorgestrel) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Myzilra (ethinyl estradiol; levonorgestrel)

Constant bloating, weight gain, acne returning since being switched. Will ask to switch once this pack is done

regulate period/prevent pregnancy

extreme moodiness/irritability, fatigue, period changed start date twice

I am stopping Myzilra once this pill pack is finished. My doctor switched me to Myzilra from another birth control brand. With that birth control I felt fine and never saw any changes in my mood or routine due to the medication. Once I started taking myzilra I started becoming frequently aggitated at things that would have not been a big deal before. Also, the day my period started every month changed and then changed back. My periods also got significantly heavier during the first day or two than they were on the other birth control. At the end of this pack, I am ceasing birth control use altogether.

MYZILRA (ETHINYL ESTRADIOL; LEVONORGESTREL): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin and an estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia). (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

I don't take a high dose but it seems to work. I can now study for exams without freaking out and having insomnia. Was thinking of trying to increase the dosage because my concentration is diminishing and anxiety is increasing but after reading others' comments, maybe not. Didn't know why I was sweating at night and needing more sleep, but because of this website, now I know. Not going off though; need to get through school. This is my first antidepressant.

Weight loss in beginning, then steady weight gain.

When I started at the .25 dose I felt bloated, full, constipated, extreme fatigue, didn't really want to eat and when I did I had a couple times where I vomited. That went away by week three. Week 5 I started the .50 dose and have slightly less of the original bloating, fullness of the first dose. I do have some fatigue and some cramping. I get on and off pain in the upper left hand side of my abdomen, just below the last rib. My BS numbers were lowering a lot when I first started. Some mornings I woke up with 81, 92, which is unbelievable for me. But it seems my body got use to it. I'm hoping with the newest dose (.50) I'll start seeing some lower numbers again. My biggest complaint is I have gained 6 pounds when I am eating less. I don't eat well but I wasn't when I started the medicine either so I'm very surprised at the weight gain and can't find anything online that talks about it.

I experienced terrible chest pain, could not even turn over in bed or get up(almost passed out from the pain when my husband tried to help me), as well as fever, headache, and severe joint pain - these are minor side effects???

Weight Gain, Ankle Swelling, Fatigue, Weekly Painful Bouts of Diarrhea, Elevated Blood Sugar, Elevated Liver Enzymes

I took the full 10 day as prescribed. My period came 3 days after my last pill. I hadn't had a period in two years so it did what it was suppose to. The period began as a regular one wit back cramps. I never had back cramps before so I attributed this to the pill. Then by day 5 of my cycle is was starting to go away as it should but then day 6 started again with a heavy flow. Since then I've had extremely heavy flow with unusually large blood clots. This is day 14 and it seems as if this period will never end. Ughhh. My doc says this happens sometimes on provera.

Weird Vivid dreams continuesly every night.

I got an earache out of nowhere, it seems to have gone. Also horrible constipation! I never had this UNTIL I started taking Lunesta. I did not take it last night, and was awake most of the night. I will take it tonight, BUT, I will also take a couple of fiber capsules...I don't want to relive this again!

Amazing, I mean truly amazing for my back pain. Completely took pain away like magic, but because of the other side effects, I asked to be taken off this medicine
