Side Effects for Mycobutin (rifabutin)
So far, nothing major except the urine discoloration. I'm also taking Biaxin, which I believe is responsible for the insomnia I'm having.
MYCOBUTIN (RIFABUTIN): This medication is used alone or with another medication to help prevent a certain serious infection (Mycobacterium avium complex-MAC). Rifabutin is known as a rifamycin antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats and prevents only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. I am convinced the eruptions on my face are from Fosamax. I've also experienced pain in my shoulder and right arm that noone has been able to diagnose. And, I was refused dental implants because of the bone loss caused by the Fosamax. I would not recomment it to anyone as there are too many unknowns. The osteoma cutis on my face has gotten worse and there is no known way of getting rid of it. I've stopped taking the drug, but the damage has been done. I've also been hospitalized for an apparent heart attack. It was found I didn't have any heart problem, and there too no diagnosis was found.

Helped a great deal. When I went back for exam, everything was back to normal.
First 7 day dose was with cipro. Had to go back on 7 more days for c.diff. Still have c.diff symptoms, had to start 3rd treatment. I am on day 5 of 10, all I want to do is sleep. I was an extremely active and healthy person before this, now I can hardly walk my child to school without needing a nap.

This made me feel worse than having terrible allergies!
I went off this drug briefly for an unrelated illness and it was hell. I was suicidal and crying all the time. I would never do it again alone. Its a big commitment but well worth it but effects are different for everyone. I am happy and productive for the first time in my life. Personally I would never go off it.
