This is the first month I take microgestin. I am around my ovulation and I'm experiencing cramping down there. It's weird because isn't it suppose to prevent ovulation?
Acne, extreme depression, suicidal thoughts, weight gain, and breast swelling.
This is a terrible birth control. These have been the worst 3 months of my life and my mental health has decreased extremely quickly while taking this pill. My mental state got so bad to the point where I ended up ruining my own relationship and some friendships. My breasts increased and they hurt all the time to the point where I couldn't even lay on them.
Increased hormonal acne, weight gain, irregular periods and cramping
I was prescribed Microgestin through Nurx.com. I've gained 15ish pounds since i've started it but i don't mind. My main concern is i haven't been having much of a period the last couple of months and this month i didn't have one at all. I'm hoping this is normal.
The first month & a half i was passing extremely big blood clots, having reoccurring headaches & cravings. As time went on my period went away completely, i still have regular hormonal acne but my mood swings & tiredness have triggered a depressive state. Mentally, this pill sucks. As far as preventing pregnancy it’s excellent.
If your mental health is not the best i do not recommend this pill by any means.
Regulate period, prevent pregnancy
Decreased sex drive, shorter/lighter period, less acne, reduced cramping completely, increased sugar cravings, Increased discharge before period.
This pill completely regulated my period, cramping and my acne. Microgestin has helped me immensely, but seeing results took time. My sex drive has significantly gone down which is unfortunate. Also I did not gain extra weight but had more sugar cravings.
I felt great for the first week and a half on this pill, but then I started getting really bad cramps, my breast became swollen and heavy (even my boyfriend noticed this), I started getting nauseous, and my body is retaining water. I also noticed that I had discharge similar to when you ovulate, and that's not supposed to happen.
I should also note that I switched to Microgestin after being on Tri-Sprintec for 1 year. Tri-Sprintec was making me very sick and was causing me to have unbearable migraines.
Periods were out of control, blood
Weight gain, blood count on my sugar has increased, irrtatable, mode swings
I don't feel this birth control is good,because before 3months ago my blood sugar was okay now it's high.
Prevent pregnancy, decrease crampin
I previously had taken microgestin before the birth of my son 4 years ago.I recently started back about 3 months ago. However, my prescription only has the 3 week pills. I experience headaches off and on before by period. During the first 2 days I am nauseated and I have some mild cramps. I currently feel thatI have been getting numbness at times in my right hand. ( unsure if its how I sleep) Lastly my periods are ligher and shorter than usual. It will last 3 to 4 days. I have no problems with ache. I have been quitd moody, and I am starting to feel a decreased sexual appetite. Before my period, I become very arroused.
I was unaware that the 4 week pack is currently unavailable. I think that it depends on the pharmacy. I had no symptoms with the 4 week pack previously.
So far I love this BC pill because my only side effect is bloating.
my periods stopped altogether!
I started taking this birth control pill in order to have a regular period, but after taking this pill for three months, my period stopped. Definitely will not use this pill again.
Pregnancy prev/ shorter period
I enjoyed the increased sex drive but am discouraged by the heavy bleeding cramps. I switched from a 24 active so I knew the potential to have longer periods was there but a 6 day period makes me feel like I'm back in high school. I am going to stick it out and hope my body adjusts.
Migraines, weight gain, nausea, clearer skin
I tried out other BC before this and it made me bleed for a month and did nothing for my pain. This BC stops me from ovulating and I've noticed that I only mildly breakout during the time of my period since starting the pill which is a bonus for someone who has had problems with acne since they were 10. Yes, I suffer terribly from the other side effect and have to see a neurologist for my migraines but I'd rather deal with them than have the ovulation pain come back.

I'm not a huge fan of this birth control, although it does what I need it to. Usually, doctors say your body will get used to the birth control pill hormones within 3 months; however, I have almost every side effect continuously every month. It has done nothing to help with acne (if anything it's only made it worse) and the only reason I'm taking it and not switching brands is to prevent pregnancy.
I ended up getting a blood clot in my head.. now I am on blood thinners for who knows how long. I do not smoke, exercise everyday and am very healthy. DO NOT take this pill.
Weight gain, blood clots in the popliteal vein
I had the Mirena, but switched to the pill. At the end of my third week of the first pack, I developed two clots in my leg. I have no prior history of clots but I realize they are a risk with any hormone-replacement/supplement. I also gained about 7 lbs.
Breast tenderness, bigger breasts, dryness during sex
I would definitely recommend this birth control. It cleared up my skin, and regulated my periods. I have 2 day periods and hardly any cramps at all!
Did not want to get pregnant & acne

I gained 14 lbs in 19 days on this pill. I was eating healthy and working out. All of a sudden I had a large amount of visceral belly fat and huge hormonal mood swings. Immediately switched over to another dosage after consulting my OBGYN

I experienced no side effects whatsoever. No weight gain, no adverse reactions. My period is on time every month and although I experience just a little breakthrough bleeding, I feel great taking Ovcon 35. I love this pill.

I was pretty sure that I had a UTI before arriving through the hospital after searching the internet about what could be wrong. I also had pretty harsh pain in my abdomen. After urine and blood samples and a long wait in the ER, the doctor diagnosed me with a UTI and kidney infection and prescribed me the Cipro.About an hour or so after the first dose I felt nausea. I was dry heaving although I had eaten. I figured I just hadn't eaten enough so I had another snack but the nausea never subsided. It's still day 5 and it hasn't. I jut figured that some antibiotics do this and that would be the worst of it. Wrong!I'm on day 5. For the past 4 days I have had constant abdominal and lower back pain. I find it difficult getting in and out of bed and standing up because my legs feel weak and stiff. The worst was yesterday afternoon. I was confused, slightly delirious, and VERY upset. I was depressed and feeling like I should just give up and stay sick because my pain is almost unbearable.This is ridiculous. I have been taking this medication for less than a week, so I can't imaging what it would be like if I kept swallowing these poison pills for another 5 days. I regret not finding this website before I began Cipro.Needless to say, the rest will be flushed and I am going to try a natural approach in curing my infection.
Body feels HUGE. Restless legs pain in knees and lower legs. Started on 100mg got a rash, severe itching, hair loss, no energy. Dr cut it back to 50mg and no improvement getting worse. Used to work out 3-5 times a week. Now lucky if I can stay in the elliptical for 15 minutes. If I skip this medication for a day, I don't feel as swollen until about 5 or 6 hours after I take it again. Insurance will no longer cover divan but I am not staying on this.
I was on the brand name Ovcon for 3 mths ( pks from Dr) and when the pharmacy filled my rx, they gave me Balziva..this is the worst pill ever. In the last 9 days, yes, just 9 days, I've gone from perfectly fine to a wild raging hormonal freak! My breast are tender, my uterus is killing me, I 'feel' bloated, and I feel like I'm in the middle of the worst PMS ever and I am a full 2 weeks away from a period. I called the pharmacy and they are sending out Ovcan asap, they gave generic because it was free. My sanity is worth whatever they are charging and I can't wait to get my hands on that pack!!!!! Avoid using this pill if at all possible..my dr's office has said they've had many complaints about Balziva and can't figure out why it's still out there. It was on about day 5 I noticed some of these things but thought it was stress from work and the holidays......nope..it's the damn pill...today was the worst day I had in years
I have to cry with my GP before they will agree to administer. First had Kenalog-40 2 years ago after crashing my car from falling asleep whilst driving taking usual hayfever treatments. GP refused to give it to me last year. Given to me this season. 1 shot lasts the whole pollen season. Worried about the reported longterm effects but without Kenalog my summer is not worth living
I'm no longer taking this medication. I do not take any drugs now, just try to keep my cholesterol low with diet and exercise (works a bit). Wee all need some cholesterol. I am prepared to take my chance and not poison myself with drugs.
My bad symptoms started approximately 4 days in and it's been a week and I'm still having bad anxiety and unable to relax along with the weird feeling in my throat. How long do the bad side effects last?
