I used lialda four 1.2 grams a day for many years, along w canasa suppositories. When lialda became generic i switched to it. For the last 6-8 years i m down to two 1.2 grams a day and no canasa. My colitis is totally controlled.
When I first started taking the drug it gave me ringing in my ears but that went away after about 3 weeks. It works in controlling Crohns. I usually only take it when I am first expiriencing a flare up and I stay on it until I am back in remission and then I stop taking it.
Intense shaking, fever of 104, sweats. My wife brought me to the ER on day 10. I was admitted immediately. Was in the hospital for 4 days. They still were not sure what it was and told me to take it on Friday morning to see if I had another reaction. I took it Friday morning and ended up back in the hospital for another three days. Was tested for covid 3 times - negative. Finally was told it was a severe reaction to mesalamine.
Was told to take 4-.375g every morning.
MESALAMINE (MESALAMINE): Mesalamine (also known as 5-aminosalicylic acid) is used to treat certain types of bowel disease (distal ulcerative colitis, proctosigmoiditis, proctitis). It does not cure these conditions, but it may relieve mild-to-moderate pain and decrease the frequency of diarrhea/bloody stools caused by irritation/swelling in the colon/rectum. Mesalamine is an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory drug. It is believed to work by blocking the production of certain natural chemicals that may cause pain and swelling. I started Elmiron three weeks ago for IC which I have suffered with for over fifteen years. I began breaking out two weeks ago with horrible itchy rash after starting the Elmiron. I went to see the dermatologist and the doctor who perscribed the Elmiron and was told to stop. That was one week ago and I'm still breaking out one week of stopping the medicine. I was put on Medrol(Predisone) 4mg ,Topicort gel and told to take Benadrly .The rash is getting worse. Rash started on back of arms and within one week was on all limbs, chest and now neck.I'm still itchy and sratchy Is this normal?
I miscarried twice and took Prometirum when I became pregnant with my daughter in 2005. I am now 8 weeks pregnant again and have been taking Prometirum for almost 3 weeks. I take it orally, but I don't remember the dosage. I don't recall the ovwerwhelming feeling of exhaustion or fogginess being nearly as bad last time as it is this time. I'm going to try to start taking it at night and see if that helps me focus and have some energy during the day. I'll take it as long as necessary if it helps me carry this pregnancy as well. I gave it a 4 because I believe it's what helped me carry my last pregnancy.
I almost never believe people when they say they have weird side effects. I took this for a year. Thought it was causing me to gain weight(I don't think so really) so I decided to stop taking this. I kept waking up in the middle of the night and eating! That may have been the Zyrtec. Then when I ran out and was literally scrounging around in my car at 1 am since I couldn't sleep without Zyrtec my husband joked. " I think you are addicted to Zyrtec". I barely drink and take no other meds! So I stopped. WOW. The itchiness was so unbearable. I thought I had lice(no) then bedbugs(no). A late night internet search revealed other crazies like me. STILL not a believer I started Zyrtec again when I moved into a dusty house with no AC and windows open... I took it for about a week 5-10mg a night. 2 nights ago I stopped. I just washed my sheets because I was convinced AGAIN I had lice. I have welts on my back this time. I itch ALL over and feel like there are bugs crawling all over me at night! I am so mad!!!!
Occasional headache. Woke up in the middle of the night a few times but that got better. Still sleeping well.
My wife says it is working great. I didn't realize how well it was working on my Bi-Polar until my doctor tried to switch my meds due to the weight gain. Significantly helped to reduce the migranes. I had one set which literally lasted for over 3 months before the medication. I am taking 1500mg daily.
Trouble falling /staying asleep
I'm satisfied because its done. With both shots I had fever sweats and chills. Also the injection area is very sore. Like a pretty strong 24 hour flu. Got very little sleep. This morning the fever is gone but I'm wiped out.... Bedding is in the wash. A fair amount of sweating last night....
I felt like i was gonna have a heart attack, couldnt sleep at night, just too scared to fall asleep. I figured it could be this med so i didnt take it this morning, lets see how long it takes to get back to normal
