Side Effects for Leuprolide acetate (leuprolide acetate)

Extreme shortness of breath, night and day sweats, loss of chest and leg hair.

My version is of leuprolide acetate is called Eligard. Does a good job of keeping my PSA to less than 0.1 but I also have the Alpha 1 deficiency which amounts to inherited emphysema. I was functioning normally despite the Alpha 1 before I received the first four month injection. Severe shortness of breath began immediately after the first injection. The condition of my lungs hasn't changed for two years and my pulmonary MD sees no reason for the change and attributes it to leuprolide acetate (Eligard). Recently had the fourth injection and shortness of breath worse than ever. Is there an alternative drug? The side effect is turning me into a couch potato. I am really considering stopping the treatments. Walking accross the room results in shortness of breath. I thought this info would be helpful to anyone unfortunate enough to have prostate and lung illness.

LEUPROLIDE ACETATE (LEUPROLIDE ACETATE): Leuprolide is used to treat advanced prostate cancer in men. It is not a cure. Most types of prostate cancer need the male hormone testosterone to grow and spread. Leuprolide works by reducing the amount of testosterone that the body makes. This helps slow or stop the growth of cancer cells and helps relieve symptoms such as painful/difficult urination. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of treatment. Leuprolide is also used to stop early puberty (precocious puberty) in children. It helps to delay sexual development (such as growth of the breasts/testicles) and the start of menstrual periods. It also helps slow down early bone growth to increase the likelihood of reaching normal adult height. Leuprolide works by decreasing the amount of sex hormones that a child's body makes (estrogen in girls, testosterone in boys). (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Also, was anyone ever treated with an alternative of flagyl? If anyone has the same effect, let me know. Thank you.

After taking the medication 3 times I started feeling really weak (I could hardly walk). The day the side effects started I went to see a doctor and they took me off the medication. It took a few days for the fatigue to go away. In spite of the side effects, the medication did its job and made the infection go away.

Joint pain in both knees and ankles follow IM injection

More insomnia, grogginess next day

tired. I can't wake up. I would sleep12 hours if given a chance. I wish I could find something to counteract the exhaustion. This is the only medication I have found so far to prevent my hives, but i'm exhausted all the time.

Overall seems to help with acne, and pms syptoms. Seems to work better when taken in the morning vs later in the day.

Stomach cramps, acid indigestion and burning in stomach that woke me up at night. Took OTC antacids, (Zantac, TUMS, Pepto,) but nothing helped. Other than that, no side effects, however, it has been 3 days since I completed treatment and I am still having stomach pain and burning.

Crestor great for lowering cholesterol levels, but bad side effects could occur.
