Kurvelo (ethinyl estradiol; levonorgestrel) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Kurvelo (ethinyl estradiol; levonorgestrel)

First period with this pill was absolutely horrible so very painful. I've had a huge change in my emotions super sad and depressed. Also weight gain

Hormone balance, contraception

First month: painful (non-period) abdominal cramping for most of the first month. Unusually long and heavy period. Increased fatigue and brain fog for most of this time as well.

The first month of being on Kurvelo was probably the worst I've ever experienced in starting new birth control. I almost quit, especially with the fatigue during and following that horrendous period. But I stuck through it and I've evened out to a much more normal state since then. The start is rocky but can be worth it for women looking for more regular periods and a good contraceptive.

KURVELO (ETHINYL ESTRADIOL; LEVONORGESTREL): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin and an estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia). (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Tri Sprintec a generic of Ortho TC

It has been helping me focus my attention better and helps me pace my thoughts. It’s like it slows me down to a pace that matches those around me.

I've been on 6 different types of BC. Nuva Ring was the best and I loved it.... but my acne slowly came back over a long period of time. So far Ortho Cyclen has been the only method that has helped clear up my skin and NOT made me a pscyho, or my hormones out of control. I do headaches sometimes and a little bleeding, but of all the side effects I've had to deal with on the pill those are nothing.I'm VERY happy with Ortho Cyclen so far.

Anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia

I have been to see so many doctors and had so many tests done due to the muscle cramps in my back, hips, and thighs. I am not a big water drinker and even when I try to be, it still does not make the cramping go away. It took an article on low magnesium levels to make me start researching the drugs I do take. I've been feeling old since they put me on this drug. It's ruined a lot of my life.

i'm absolutely exhausted from this med, when i wake up i wake up exausted even from a full nights sleep. My clot has brought me so much pain with not much relief with this med. I tend to also have very vivid dreams, which isn't something normal for me. I tried taking my car in for an oil change (no places to sit bc of covid) and standing there i almost passed out. This med makes me exausted, dizzy, nauseous(vommiting also), and makes me feel super under the weather all the time.

I would not recommend this drug to anyone.

Loss of appetite, great tiredness, pale coloured stools, undigested food, diarrhoea, flatulence, sharp pains in abdomen, tight pains in chest.

Prior to going on Toprol my BP was as high as 145 over 110. Yesterday it was 120 over 70. I've been taking the medication since mid summer. In all honesty I must also say that I've also made some major lifestyle changes as well. (lost 15#,cut way back on alcohol intake and walk 45 min daily.) Most likely my BP would be down anyway but for now for now I'm very happy. Again, no side effects at all as near as I can tell

I have been on Boniva for exactly 1 year now. I will have my next bone density test this summer, so I will have been on it 18 mos. by that point. I am hopeful for some slowdown in bone loss and will be thrilled to find some increased bone density. I am very sorry to hear of the problems women here have had. I honestly can say that I have not experienced any of the pain or GI issues noted here. I came to this site, however, to find out if weight gain has been a problem with Boniva users. I am post-menopausal and I did gain weight with menopause, but it seems I gained much more all of a sudden in the past year, and I cannot account for it any other way.
