Imodium advanced (loperamide hydrochloride; simethicone) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Imodium advanced (loperamide hydrochloride; simethicone)

Taken only once, I had severe cramping, pain, vomiting and bloating, which necessitated a trip to the ER where they thought I had appendicitis. Only after a white count and xray revealed I had a colon full of gas, did they cancel the surgery. Finally 6 hours after taking the Imodium AD the gas began to pass and relief came.

Somewhat gassy, but not very problematic. May try the anti-gas form of the drug.

Amazingly effective at controlling irritable bowel syndrome triggered by anxiety, e.g. having to use the bathroom because of being in public. This drug works at controlling this terrible aspect of my anxiety/depression/OCD where Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro, Lorazepam, Xanax, and Valium have failed! I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I addition to usual side-effects which included metallic taste, extreme sensitivity to smell, I experienced Diabetes Insipidus which caused me to urinate large volumes of urine almost every couple of hours. I am a physician myself and was able to diagnose it promptly. Even I Got dehydrated and had to hospitalized. This is a rare side-effect but you should watch out for it.

It work great on reducing cholesteral level, but its side effects became another problem for me. I will discuss it with my doctor in my next visit.

DON'T TAKE YASMIN..I hate this pill. I would never reccommend this to anyone. It made me sick for like a week straight. This pill will make you feel like shit and if you don't feel good inside how can you feel good about anything around you. I put up with this crap for 6 months and I can't take it anymore.

Severe mouthwatering, mild nausea, stomach upset, intestinal cramping, diareah

My mother (84)started taking to "help her meomory" and within 3 weeks she was very agitated and at a new, higher level of anxiety that led to a trip to the hospital for "chest pains". She was off of it for @ 2 weeks and seemed to level out and then (per Dr.'s receommendation) started again and now, three weeks later, her agitation and anxiety in increasing...again.We are taking her off of it again.

really has not helped my pain at all

This experience has caused me a lot of grief since I am the type of patient who wants to be involved in my care. I was told I would be conscious during my surgery with only a local nerve block, which is what I wanted, and why I decided to go ahead with the surgery. Instead, I was left feeling like I had been "put out" for 2 hours, a gap of time that I have no memory of at all.

tingling(face, arms, feet, legs), nausea, fatigue, tremors, anxiety, joint pain and leg cramps, chest pain,a weird cough, a 'weird' feeling like i was being drained, vision problems...etc. i felt funny the first day i started taking this "medication". My doctor finally said i can stop taking it, so i'm gonna start weening off of it this week. though it did get my blood pressure down, i would NEVER take this medication again...
