Haloperidol (haloperidol) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Haloperidol (haloperidol)

After about 15 years on it, I had to separate it, because I got stiff in the back.

After I separeted it, it felt like I woke up from a "bubble".

Extreme dizziness- especially after injections

First time taking this med. it worked for my psychosis, but there are better drugs for me. Did not alleviate all symptoms. Still heard voices in tv. and anxiety around in world. Also took the generic brand haldol. I mean it works, it seemed this was the only drug the were giving us at the hospital. But every antipsychotic drug works for everyone jus have to find one that is best FOR YOU.

Supposed to be a 'major tranquilizer'. Why isn't it helping??? Hate

maliciously diagnosed paranoid Sz

Drug-induced Parkinsonism, akathisia which was so bad I felt as if I was going to explode and attempted suicide as I could not stand it. Also twitching of neck and jaw, losing control of my tongue so speech became incomprehensible. I paced about 24/7, even eating while pacing about. I was so mentally and physically exhausted I thought I would drop dead. I stayed awake longer than the medical profession claim is possible. This was 23 years ago and I still relive the experience in nightmares. I was left with a life-long sleeping disorder. The side effects of this drug are horrendous. Some psychiatrists still use Haloperidol as first choice - these shrinks are normally also sadistic in other respecst.

When I appealed to the Mental Health Review Tribunal the independent psychiatrist said I had the strangest psych records he had ever seen - they made absolutely no sense. He said "3 Consultant Psychiatrists have given you a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and there is not a single word in the entire notes to even suggest such a diagnosis"! The level of psychiatric abuse in UK mental health is a national scandal. I would give this drug a rate of 0 if this choice was available.

Shaking,Trembling,Constipation,Involuntaru Facial and Body movements,Trouble Sleeping,Fast heart rate,Parkunsonism Disease,Severe Anxiety,Severe Depression.

I would not recommend it to anybody.

sleepiness, calmness, increased appetite?, terrible paranoia (ironic), just a trashy drug for me

HALOPERIDOL (HALOPERIDOL): Haloperidol is used to treat certain mental/mood disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders). This medicine helps you to think more clearly, feel less nervous, and take part in everyday life. It can also help prevent suicide in people who are likely to harm themselves. It also reduces aggression and the desire to hurt others. It can decrease negative thoughts and hallucinations. Haloperidol can also be used to treat uncontrolled movements and outbursts of words/sounds related to Tourette's syndrome. Haloperidol is also used for severe behavior problems in hyperactive children when other treatments or medications have not worked. Haloperidol is a psychiatric medication (antipsychotic-type) that works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain (neurotransmitters). I do not recommend this drug to anyone!!!! The side effects definately outweigh the benefits!!

blood pressure shot up and had excruciating headaches, stopped taking pill and still having them.

Not good, terrible aching arm for 4 days, temperature, sore throat for 5 days but the very worse is the headache lasting 9 weeks, fatigue and generally feeling like I had flu, stomach pains and loose bowels Affected the way my hrt worked aswell, completely brought back all menopause symptoms I've read this is a problem on many forums.

fatigue, insomnia, swollen feet with soles of feet red and burning so sometimes I can hardly walk, cannot walk for exercise, cannot do water aerobics because feet hurt even when I wear swim shoes. Excessive nightime urination. I am becoming an invalid. Has lowered BP during day but if I take it when waking during the night it is quite high.

Severe stomach pain, gastritis, anxiety, depression, dizziness, joint pain, insomnia, and low libido. Probably a lot more but these were the worse side effects. Pure hell to get off. I can't believe this is a legal drug.

Really bad nightmares but itching stopped.

docto thought benzos were addictive

DO NOT USE! The most dangerous drug I have ever experienced. Do not recommend to anyone.

After beginning this med, I realized that I had taken it before with the same effects. I teach and by the end of the school day of the 2nd dose, I felt like I was floating to another world. It was rough. I couldn't eat anything, but felt like I was going to get sick if I didn't eat. I couldn't eat more than a few bites at a time though.

This medication did bring my blood sugar levels down, however after being at the same weight for years and not changing my diet at all, I have been gradually gaining since I started this drug. I am on 30mg a day with metformin and insulin. I can't take the weight gain, I am miserable with a huge swollen stomach and sweet cravings. I am going to quit and ask my doctor about byetta.
