Glyburide (glyburide) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Glyburide (glyburide)

Currently take 2.5mgs before 1st meal and 2.5mgs before bedtime. Medicine makes me feel shakey somtimes. Other than that I tolerate it pretty well.

It definitely worked. Within 3 hours of taking the first dose my blood sugar dropped to the lowest I'd seen since I was diagnosed. Unfortunately it was way too low and my doctor halved the dose. Since then it seems to be helping. I'm not sure if I will keep using it as I'm a little wary of the interaction with metformin and the fact that it is essentially whipping my body to produce insulin.

I didn't know I had any side effects until I quit all the other meds (metformin, then Actos) to prepare for injecting insulin. Then, when my blood sugar was high, I'd take a glyburide. I felt really fatigued, grumpy and a little nauseous. This happened every time I took the stuff.

It's clear the side effects pile up on each other. Metformin made me feel terrible and I didn't know what caused it for many months. I gain 40 lbs on Actos, suddenly developed low thyroid and high cholesterol. My doc started me on Lipitor for the cholesterol problem and that gave me numb legs and terribly swollen feet. So I've ditched them all and will see which ones I really need when I'm on insulin.

GLYBURIDE (GLYBURIDE): Glyburide is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It may also be used with other diabetes medications. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Glyburide belongs to the class of drugs known as sulfonylureas. It lowers blood sugar by causing the release of your body's natural insulin. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Hot flashes, weight loss, short temper

So far so good, maybe too early to say if it helps with Osteopenia, but I hope so!

I was told by a staff nurse that it was unlikey it was the ZOCOR and that I should continue taking the increased dose for at least another week and could make an appointment with my primary care doctor to see if he could diagnose the cause of the problem if it persisted. On Tuesday I dropped back to 40 mg, and was feeling better later in the day, and on Wednesday I decided to try the 80 mg again. BIG MISTAKE !! I could not sleep that night with the increased right shoulder pain, as though I had dislocated it, and the gassiness, malaise and ill-temper. Oh yes, I received another call from the Heart Clinic Wednesday, after I had taken the 80 mg, and my original complaint had gone on to further review, and another nurse advised me to stop taking the ZOCOR entirely for a week to see if the side effects stopped. I will follow up here in a week to post the results of stopping the ZOCOR. I am absolutely amazed at the number of respondents here who describe my symptoms, right down to the S

Made me a little sleepy and that's it. Cleared my ear and sinus infection!

EXTREME anxiety, depression, nonstop panic attacks, muscle tension, blurred vision, racing heart with palps, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dribbling urine, sensitivity to light, ears ringing, restlessness, feeling very unlike my former self

I believe though this is one of the only meds that I have tried and I have tried many that stops the racing thoughts it is extremely hazardous to your health and the side effect are not all clearly listed. It has helped me with 1 thing but caused me so many other problems it doesn't equal out.

also, i dont even know whats going on with my period. this month i started 2 days late and it only lasted 2 days. im really confused... but mostly im DEPRESSED. there is no history of depression in my family so it can only be this. also, since starting this pill my boyfriend and i have been fighting non-stop. and i know its not because of him. the smallest thing will set me off and i just go crazy. my mood swings are out of control since starting loestrin!

This has almost completely gotten rid of my headaches - nothing else has worked. Now that I'm accustomed to my dose, I don't have the grogginess (almost like a severe depression - i didn't want to move for 2 weeks), but my appetite is crazy for sweets. I have had lots of trouble trying to lose weight while on this med.
