Glatopa (glatiramer acetate) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Glatopa (glatiramer acetate)

Side effects included mild injection site swelling, redness and tenderness. Pretty mild, and similar as I had with Copaxone. Have had no relapses to date.

Was on Copaxone for 18 months and then my health insurance switched me to a generic formula.

GLATOPA (GLATIRAMER ACETATE): This medication is used to treat a certain type of multiple sclerosis (relapsing multiple sclerosis-MS). It is a protein that is thought to work by preventing your immune system from attacking the nerves in your brain and spinal cord. This effect can decrease the number of periods of disease worsening (relapses) and prevent or delay disability. It is not a cure for MS. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

I was recently diagnosed with hsv 1 & 2. Taking 500 mg twice a day. It has cleared up the sores and the pain has decreased. But I'm tired and in a fog most of the time. I will probably continue taking 500 mg twice for 5 more days then start taking one a day or when I feel an OB coming on. Don't think I can handle the side effects of feeling tired not being able to focus or concentrate.

PTSD, Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia

Extreme pain in joints and ligaments, nausea, lack of appetite, blood sugar dropping, anxiety, extreme anger and frustration. Sounds were louder, smells stronger, lights brighter. Depression and suicidal thoughts. Insomnia. Extreme night sweats. Low grade fever.

Obviously I wanted this for the period problem, but forget it! I have been a raging pyscho on this pill. I swear its like Im pregnant all over again. I already have a D size cup, I can't possibly grow anymore. I have been dieting for the past month plus working out. Not one pound came off. I think i actually gained! Stick to the basics. Once a month defeats the cons from this drug!!

I couldn't live without it. Have had to increase dosage to 150 mg/day. If I went to 200 mg/day I had more anxiety and restlessness.

I am posting on behalf of my daughter, age 16. She was on Singulair for approx. 6 years, switching over to the generic form August 2012. Mood changes were gradual and attributed to "teenager". Five weeks ago, the thoughts of suicide were dominant and she was removed from the drug asap - they are unsure if it is her age or the switch to the generic form that triggered this. My question is - how long before the aftereffects of this drug go away? The hair loss has just started improving but the suicidal thoughts are still present. (yes, she is under a doctor's care and seeing a therapist)

Severe chest pain, very dry throat.

my 9 year old son started taking and within 1 day he had an extremely chapped upper lip almost like a cold sore. It was extremely painful. My allergist did not think it was related, however, I took him off and it started to disappear. He was in alot of pain and very upset about the way it looked.

stress, muscle pain, fibromyalgia

I started taking toprol for palpitations one year ago. I went in for a physical last week and told my doc about my moodyness and lack of caring about anything he though it might be this drug and has cut my normal 25mg daily in half and going to take me completely off. I was so glad to find this site and see other people with the same symptoms. I knew there was something wrong with me but had no idea it was this drug. I have now been taking 12.5mg for about a week and am just starting to notice a little difference. I am not quite as irritable. I have 5 children and a husband and I could care less if I talked to any of them and that is normally not me. I WAS a very patient mother but not anymore. I am looking forward to getting off this drug and getting back to myself. I am worried about the palpitations though. The older I get the longer they last. Before I started this drug my palpitations would last an hour. I don't know yet if the doctor will put me on a different drug or
