ESOMEPRAZOLE MAGNESIUM (ESOMEPRAZOLE MAGNESIUM): Esomeprazole is used to treat certain stomach and esophagus problems (such as acid reflux, ulcers). It works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach makes. It relieves symptoms such as heartburn, difficulty swallowing, and persistent cough. This medication helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent cancer of the esophagus. Esomeprazole belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). If you are self-treating with this medication, over-the-counter esomeprazole products are used to treat frequent heartburn (occurring 2 or more days a week). Since it may take 1 to 4 days to have full effect, these products do not relieve heartburn right away. For over-the-counter products, carefully read the package instructions to make sure the product is right for you. Check the ingredients on the label even if you have used the product before. The manufacturer may have changed the ingredients. Also, products with similar brand names may contain different ingredients meant for different purposes. Taking the wrong product could harm you. I take my 4 pills (10 mg in total) on Monday. For the next 48 hours after, I feel exhausted, head feels heavy and I feel really bloated. I have been having trouble sleeping and been very moody also. The symptoms for my RA have drastically improved but I just feel crappy for 3 days out of 7. Now I have to increase to 15 mg. starting my next dose. I hope it doesn't worsen the side effects.
After taking it for 6 months I found this website and saw other postings about anxiety and depression. I was severaly depressed, angry, very emotional and severe PMS symtoms and had no idea why. I went off the allegra one month ago and all side effects stopped. My depression and anger is gone, no PMS, and rash disappeared. I can't believe the difference.

I have not taken it for 7 months and my hands are still going numb. At first my arms were VERY weak and would go completely numb up to my shoulders. I gained over 30 pounds within a month after I finished the dosage. I have always weighed between 120 to 130 without dieting. I got up to 163 before it started coming off. Almost back to normal now without any changes to my diet.
