I had taken Apri for almost 8 years with only weight gain and the occasional migraine as side effects. One month on Emoquette and my hair is falling out, I'm moody and have lost my joie de vivre!
EMOQUETTE (DESOGESTREL; ETHINYL ESTRADIOL): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin and an estrogen. It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. I was considered subclinical hypothyroid and an Endocrinologist prescribed this drug (25mcg). I have gained an excessive amount of weight on it while continuing to exercise 6 days a week and eat healthy. My stomach makes me look pregnant, it has gotten so big and bloated. I used to weigh 133 lbs and am well over 150 now. The joint pain is awful (I am barely able to make it through a workout). I used to have clear skin and now have acne breakouts and have just started to lose my hair in significant amounts. All after just six weeks on this stuff. Do your research before starting this drug. I learned I could not tolerate this stuff the hard way. I was willing to believe everything the Endocrinologist said about this medicine making me feel better. I refuse to take it any longer and am off it for good. Will try a naturopathic doctor who is willing to prescribe Armour or Nature-throid.
Horrendous, as bad a pain as giving birth except continual.
i like using this product. sometimes i'll get a sharp pain or the feeling like im going to get my period but thats it. i used to have terrible periods lasting 8 days and cramps that would keep me in bed but now i have virtually no cramps and my period is only 3 days and a lot lighter.

made me sleepy, made me much less irritable, helped with anxiety attacks. When took to close together made me sort of manic. Did not increase sex drive, but did help with the stress hindering from being able to have sex
About thirty minutes after taking the horrible ALEVE i went into anti falactic shock and was rushed to the hospital. i lost control of my whole body and could not breath I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ALEVE TO ANYONE IT SHOULD BE TAKIN OFF THE SHELVES AND ONLY GIVIN BY PRESCRIPTION AFTER TESTING FOR ALLERGIES TO IT.
