DELZICOL (MESALAMINE): This medication is used to treat a certain bowel disease (ulcerative colitis). It helps to reduce symptoms of ulcerative colitis such as diarrhea, rectal bleeding, and stomach pain. Mesalamine belongs to a class of drugs known as aminosalicylates. It has worked wonders for my migraines. One 250mg ER at night and I'm set- way better than Topamax for me. HOWEVER, the weight I've put on in the past two months is amazing and ever so hard to fix. The calming mood feeling is nice, not too inabling, and it is definitly harder to wake up.
The pain I experienced with a one time use of this drug was second only to childbirth. It was excruciating and continuous. I thought I was having a stroke or heart attack. This medication should be taken off the market before someone ends up dead from using it!
I'm on 2mg BID, I was on 3mg TID. I was put on Klonopin because it has a longer half-life than the Valium I was on. I don't have to take it as often. It did help out with the stomach cramps and, to a lesser degree, nausea. However, the fact that it dried out my lungs and made the asthma worse made me not take it again.
