ASHLYNA (ETHINYL ESTRADIOL; LEVONORGESTREL): This combination hormone medication is used to prevent pregnancy. It contains 2 hormones: a progestin (levonorgestrel) and an estrogen (ethinyl estradiol). It works mainly by preventing the release of an egg (ovulation) during your menstrual cycle. It also makes vaginal fluid thicker to help prevent sperm from reaching an egg (fertilization) and changes the lining of the uterus (womb) to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. If a fertilized egg does not attach to the uterus, it passes out of the body. Besides preventing pregnancy, birth control pills may make your periods more regular, decrease blood loss and painful periods, decrease your risk of ovarian cysts, and also treat acne. Using this medication does not protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia). (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Nightmares, inability to stay asleep (my heart wakes me up at 1-2 hour intervals all night; it feels as though it is racing, but when I listen to it with my stethoscope, the beat sounds normal), occasional needle-type sensations in my feet.

light headed, urinating 6 or more nights, constant leg pain.

main concern was my hair loss and being on edge

End of second day my legs felt a bit wobbly and tingling but were normal next day.

i am only on month three, but i'm not sure i will finish the treatment. The side effects are almost worse than the disease. I cannot concentrate in school or remember have of the things i read. I know it affects everyone differently, but it is not working for me. I still have sharp pains in my pelvic and abdomen area.

Great drug. Pulminary edima it's my first choice. Ate them like candy. But while dying of fluid in lungs you learn how to survive. I highly recomend SALT reduction as far better solution. Food tastes like crap but it's better than chemical dehydrate you pills. <700mg/day sodium was the #1 thing after lasix that kept me alive while waiting for new valve. Less sodium means less lasix is needed and your life is better.

Excessive vaginal hemorrhaging for six days resulting in signif lowering of hemoglobin from 14.4 to 7.0 and lowering of RBC to the point of danderous anemia.

I used Chlor-Trimeton to manage my hay fever from age 15 through maybe age 30, when i moved to an area where my allergies were milder and didn't need medicine. When i returned to the pollen-rich land of my childhood five years later, I tried Claritin (which didn't work well) and Zyrtec (which made me feel depressed and hopeless). Now I am back to good old Chlor-Trimeton, which works well without awful side effects.

More research should be done about this drug before doctors prescribe it freely to patients.

Didn't work until about four hours in, so definitely not impressed with that. When it did work, my nose still dripped but I didn't feel stuffy, so I tolerated it. My throat was still a bit sore, but I attribute that to the nasal drip which the Claritin-D did not do anything for. About six hours in I started to feel a bit jittery and my heart rate went up. I wasn't panicking about that, even though I have anxiety (thank god I found this and could easily diagnose the cause of my jitteriness) but it wasn't very pleasant. I won't use this again; I'll probably just opt for some good ole nose spray next time my allergies decide to attack.
