Side Effects for Differin (adapalene)

Dry eyes, dry skin, dry mouth, dry lips

AVOID THIS POISON TO ANY PRICE !!!!I've been stupid enough to follow Dr DRAY's videos, and to follow her advices for the tretment of enlarged pores. After just 8 days of use, my skin, eyes and mouth became completely dry, so i stopped immediately.TOO LATE: the damage was done. My skin recovered a few, but my eyes worsened week after week, and one year later, i still have a terrible dry skin (which was oily before) and dry mouth and nose.DIFFERIN is like Accutane: long-term consequences, which can appear later. Worst decision of my life, it ruined it.

Acne, scarring, dark spot help

Burned the hell out of my face, made my face swell and peal and itched like crazy the whole time. I've attempted to use it since and it does the same thing right away. The anti scarring stuff does the same thing.

My skin is burning all around my eyes, especially under. The peeling is even pertaining under my eyes and all around my face. My face burns, for the whole day especially if I put makeup on which just looks so bad because of the access of peeling! Do not recommend at all.

Area around and between my eyes burn and sting. My skin feels raw. I use the differing gel, wash, and nighttime moisturizer. My forehead acne and jawline acne dried up but my skin around eyes including my eyebrows are peeling. Currently sitting with some ice because it burns so bad. Gave me 1st degree burns.

Her eyes became real puffy. The next day under her eyelids were peeling. A little bit of burning and plenty of drying of her skin.

Did not know that Differin would cause a cold sore out break. Do not use Differin on areas that have cold sore breakouts. My problem area was around my mouth and chin. And now I have red, angry skin that itches around my mouth. Flaky, blisters. Terrible. I wish I had a time machine so I could slap myself .

After at least two uses I notice dry flaky skin which I read up on line as being normal along with some purging breakouts of massive pimples. I stopped using it after about two weeks. I just can't. I have a gentle cleanser, I have moisturizers but since my face is in this damaged state I can barely stand washing my face. I cannot go another day using it. It's agony. I didn't have sensitive skin before this and now I do. You don't know you were living the good days until they are gone.

My face got extremely sensitive. I wash it hurts, I scratch it hurts, I just couldn't touch my face. Also my acne didn't get any better.

I got differin because my acne as an adult is worse than as a teenager, especially now with constant mask use. I am not yet a full week in and I'm regretting my decision. My face literally feels like the skin is burning off. Water on my face hurts, my incredibly gentle cleanser hurts, my face is already dry and flaky. Feels like I've had a chemical peel.

Differin was absolutely horrible for me. If I could go back in time and not ever use it, I would. I used it for two months and my acne became very severe and cystic. My skin was red, inflamed, peeling, and honestly seemed to have an infection underneath (looked like redness was spreading). Zits would drain green, which was just awful, so I definitely think it caused an infection. I've tried to just stay out of sight and away from people as much as possible because it's so embarrassing. I could be talking to someone and green crap would start bursting out of my face. The redness that spread under the skin would then cause new ones to crop up along the way. I've been trying for a month now to get my skin back (quit using Differin a month ago). Progress is slow. I'm honestly still peeling and still have breakouts. They are better than they were on Differin but I'm nowhere near back to what my skin used to be. (As an aside, I've struggled with breakouts for years but I'd gladly go back to the way my skin used to be if I could ever get healed from the damage caused by Differin). It's HORRIBLE. My method of use was to wash with a gentle cleanser, moisturize and put Differin on top (Dr. Dray's videos on Youtube if you are familiar with her). I have a lot of respect for her and her videos. She's amazing but this product just isn't right for me.

Whole face is red and extremely dry. I typically have oily skin but not anymore. I can not add enough moisturizer to my face. I am hoping I can get it back to normal. I used to not have to wear face make up but I will have to for a while probably.

I decided to try to product after seeing a Tik Tok on it. I only had mild acne from wearing a mask 24/7. I should have never tried this product.

I never had such severe problems with acne like I do now that I wear a mask for much of the day. I decided to try Differin because it was getting out of control. At first, my face was just extremely dry and became flaky. Then, it started itching especially around my jaw line. I just used it again for the 7th time like normally, except this time it started burning. I tried to ignore it and let it dry. I went to put on moisturizer later and it started burning intensely. I now have bright red chemical burn marks on the lower half of my face. I've read this is a common side effect but I can't live with the burning and marks on my face.

I am nearing the end of my second month using it and right now my acne is so out of control. I have large deep cysts as well as small bumps under the skin that have begun to pop up recently. I also have dry flakey spots where many of the bumps are. I did plenty of research before starting this so I understand the acne will get worse before it gets better and it could take up to 2-3 months to see results so I'm trying to hang in there but if I don't see improvement soon I'm going to have to stop use. I've also experienced one of my eyes being incredibly watery lately and wonder if its related to the differin. Its not swollen or painful but literally waters all day long. I'm going to avoid the eye area going forward in hopes that will help.

I used the gel on my cheek for one week and my skin looks and feels burned. Extremely dark red almost like scab but isn't and feels stiff and hurts 5/10 pain. Just called my dermatologist bc I don't know what to do now.

Redness of the skin, has not gone away 3 years after usage. Still get sun burnt easy and my acne went back to its regular bs after discontinuing the use. Never fully cleared my acne.

I look like I'm perm sunburnt on my neck, my face and neck go very red when I am even remotely embarrassed or blush. I'm constantly called a redneck. Acne came back just as strong as before and now I get sunburns very easy even with sunscreen.

To clear my acne and blackheads

1st degree burns on the face. I know it takes a few months to start clearing acne but after only a week of use, I noticed my skin getting very sensitive. It would burn just by touching the skin. Last night, I use it like I normally do and waited about 2 hours before putting moisturizer on. As soon as I put the moisturizer on, it was intense burning. After a minute or so I look at my skin and it was terribly red all over. I just thought it was some irritation so I left it alone. I wake up this morning to find out it burnt my skin, I now have 1st degree burns on my face. Very disappointing.

Horrible! Why did I try this! I have chemical burns between my eyes, forehead, and both sides of my face. Recently purchased Clinque Repairwear Laser Focus Night Cream for oily skin. I use it day and night and it is helping with the healing but from the looks of it, it will take a while to heal. DO NOT PURCHASE DIFFERIN!!

I love this drug. Nothing else worked for me. My itchy skin depends on it. I have to take it everyday or I am miserable. I have no side effects and am thankful since I see so many negative responses. I'm not anti-social, not depressed, not irritable, no panic attacks, no bad dreams, etc. Looks like I"ll be taking this drug for as long as it helps me. 10 years and couting. I'm very glad it's OTC now.

AMAZING! This is the FISRT time I have been pain free from my endo. I didn't think it was possible. Yes, I am dealing with slight side effects but ultimately my freedom of pain overcame the side effects. I've tired pretty much every type of birth control, and I was also on Lupron for a year. Speaking of Lupron, now that is a drug that should be banned! I forgot what it was like to not have pain until I was on Depo. As far as all these side effects people are having..here's a solution: exercise and healthy eating habits alone will help with weight gain AND depression.

I have been on Depo for over 8 years. I have noticed that i have gained alot of weight while on Depo Provera. Recently i have been extremly moody towards things that i should not be. Other than that i haven't had any serious side effect in the past 8 years.

Extreme drowsiness, insomnia, don't want to be social, creepy crawlies in legs, aggitation, leg jerks, sadness, joint pain, palps, severe fatigue, loss of focus, eye twitching, memory loss, worthlessness, fears, worse ringing in ears, mild anxiety, jaw twitching. weight gain

Kept me seizure free for 17 years, but eveloped significant osteoporosis despite having no risk factors (age, gender, family history); in fact, I was doing all the things that are associated with strong bones: lots of milk into early adulthood; calcium and Vitamin D supplements, running 35-40 miles a week for 29 years, weight lifting 3X per week for same period. Anyone taking Depakote should have regular bone scans.

THERE HAVE BEEN NO BAD SIDE EFFECTS SO FAR, IN FACT I THINK I FEEL BETTER THAN EVER. I HAVE NOT GAINED WEIGHT, IN FACT HAVE LOST A LITTLE. THAT ONE GRAY WHISKER ON MY CHIN HAS GONE AWAY AND INCREASED LIBIDO

horrible diarhhea, difficulty verbalizing, interupted sleep and loss of appetite, memory seems far worse

Works great, I finally sleep through the night!
