Side Effects for Accutane (isotretinoin)

ACCUTANE (ISOTRETINOIN): This medication is used to treat severe cystic acne (also known as nodular acne) that has not responded to other treatment (e.g., benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin applied to the skin or tetracycline or minocycline taken by mouth). It belongs to a class of drugs known as retinoids. It works by decreasing facial oil (sebum) production. High amounts of sebum can lead to severe acne. If left untreated, severe acne may cause permanent scarring. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Chest pain, headache, numb and cold hands and feet, major muscle spasms, sleeplessness, restless, body pain....it was way worse than the flu!!! I thought I was having a heart attack!

You must rinse well with warm water to avoid thrush issues/hoarseness. Been on Advair, then Dulera for a number of years. They are all pretty similar though Dulera worked better until caremark forced me off it or pay full retail. Was required to go on Symbicort as their covered alternative first. After going back and forth my symptoms got a bit worse and never have improved using either formulation.

I would request it or take it again but also ask for nausea medication as well, or be prepared for it when I got home.

I found out I had HPV and my doctor originally tried an in- office procedure which all but cleared up my symptoms. The only ones that are left are the original warts, so I was perscribed Aldara. I have all the side effects that are listed, and have had blisters since the 2nd application in the first week. The warts initially appeared to whiten in colour and are now back to a redish colour they were before I applied the cream. I am really worried about the blisters not healing and ending up with scars. I've started to apply polysporin to the areas that I accidentally put cream on (LESS IS MORE!!!!). I wish I had known about the Vaseline thing earlier, but I will try that now. I haven't seen any of the warts diminish yet so I'm not quite sure about the cream's effectivemess, but the side effects are NOT MILD-they range from MODERATE to SEVERE. Take Advil while you're on this to avoid feeling tired/sluggish.

A few minutes after the first pill, I developed leg cramps on the side of my left leg that sometimes radiated to the buttock. As a medical transcriptionist, I feel I can safely say that it felt like vascular pain, like there was no blood flow to the area. The pain subsided once I went to bed, but the next day, by the end of the day, the pain had returned.

I took the Pepcid extra strength and withing 40 minutes my heart started racing, felt jittery and just made me feel bad. I will never take this pill again. Omeprazole does the same thing to me
