It really helped with racing thoughts and suicidal depression. I take 50mg. 2 times daily.Studies are being done for OCD, TRD (treatment resistant depression), and bi-polar. There are probably more. Rilutek (Riluzole - generic, pro. rye-lu-zole). It is listed for ALS (always fatal progressive paralysis)to prolong the time patients can live without a trachiotomy. I believe it is still off presciption for psychiatric purpose. Look up some studies to help you convince your therapist to try it.
RILUTEK (RILUZOLE): This medication is used to treat a certain type of nerve disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also commonly called Lou Gehrig's disease). Riluzole helps to slow down the worsening of this disease and prolong survival. However, it is not a cure for ALS, and it does not reverse nerve damage or muscle weakness. Riluzole is thought to work by protecting the nerves in the brain and spinal cord from too much of a natural substance called glutamate that may be part of the cause of nerve damage. severe flu like symptoms, fever, my eyes hurt and feel like I need to rip them out of my head, low energy, fuzzy vision, chest pain, heartburn. Took the first tablet as directed at 7 AM 30 minutes before eating breakfast. Felt pretty good most of the day. Woke me up at about midnight in severe pain and fever. This is convenient but the gain in weight right after a pregnancy was unwanted. It has been a year since the birth and 6 months since going off the shot and even with excercize and healthy eating I have been unable to lose even one pound. My doc advsd it may take up to a year and a half before I actually begin losing weight. Take about depressing!! And I have been getting my period every other week for 3 months. Going to try Loestrin now!!

If you take this drug, be aware that cramps, leg pain, etc. are a possibility. No way I'll take it ever again!
