Heart palpitations in the form of skipped beats,high blood pressure, blurred vision, headaches, slightly off balance.
Took for 3 days and ended up in ER. Blood pressure 293/118. Immediately stopped taking Cephalexin. 5 days later still have heart palpitations.
With each dose, my mood plummeted into the depths of severe depression, almost approaching suicidality. As the dose wore off, I could feel my mood lift again, but then it would be time for my next dose, and my mood would plummet once again. Given my history of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, this medication is extremely dangerous. When I told my primary care provider about the side effects, her response was “It cleared up the infection, didn’t it?†Yeah, it killed the bacteria, but the side effects could have caused me to kill myself!
If you currently suffer or are in recovery from depression or PTSD - or any other mental health condition - DO NOT take this medication. Tell your doctor to prescribe something else, even if you have to go full metal Karen.
For the first two days it worked great, day three I had heart issues from it, ended up in e.r. with tachycardia and horrific panic. Resting bpm was 143. Felt horrible. Very dangerous. Got pumped full of ativan (3 doses), and was told to discontinue immediately.
It works for the infection but the side effect profiles are insane for people.
Heart palpitations and arrythmia, fatigue, dizziness, stomach shaking, a bit hard to breathe.
Seems to be clearing my UTI, but at what a price! I feel terrible. Heart is constantly in wrong rhythm. Fatigued. Feel generally terrible.
First day extreme nausea, stomach cramps and headache, loss of appetite, and high anxiety. Second persistent nausea, stomach cramps and headache with added dizziness, loss of appetite, and high anxiety and depression. Third day, extremely depressed, anxious, continued nausea, headaches, and dizziness. Also started to spot during the second and third day (I haven't spotted between periods in like 6-7 years, so that was not good to know my body was slowly getting worse).
I had to stop early due to my deteriorating mental health. I kept getting more panic attacks and depressive thoughts. It didn't help that due to my extreme stomach cramps and nausea I couldn't eat or drink anything well. Was told all these side effects were normal by pharmacist and doctor… it did help clear up some major swelling but not worth the side effects and stress my body is still undergoing.
Anxiety, agitation, restlessness, worsening of ADHD symptoms and autism hypersensitivities, dizzyness
This is worse than the side effects of some ADHD meds I've tried, absolute hell, only took it once and within hours I feel as though my entire body and mind have both just decided to give up on functioning as a human being, more than they already have. It's been over an hour since I took it and it's progressively getting worse. I hate this so much, please make it stop.
Bloating, EXCESSIVE burping of a displeasing sulphurous odor for ~40 minutes after taking pill, changes in appetite.
The belching is terrible and my dog keeps looking at me weird.
It is making me feel terrible, my heart is racing, I cannot sleep, my body is aching,I feel nauseous all the time and do not have any appetite, my mouth feels dry, I feel bloated, with a gurgling tummy and diarrhoea after taking each dose. I have not finished course yet so unsure if it has worked
I find having it with food helps a little - the first time I had it on an empty stomach, I could not stop wrenching - I'm now trying probiotics too
Bloody red rash, anxiety, body aches, sleep issues, itching all over, severe diarrhea, depression, extreme negativity, eyes are dry and itchy, nauseous, no appetite, bloating, mood swings, chills and then extremely hot
Horrible stuff. I will not take again.

Severe anxiety and panic attacks thats I never had before.Sense of impending doom, foreboding, unable to control my emotions/actions. Generally feeling negative.
I have now stopped this medication early (was supposed to be for 1 month) PLEASE can someone email me - how long until these side effects go away? Its been 10 days and I still feel horrendous!!! I am worried I have ruined my gut microbiome and am taking probiotics but I still feel awful.

I was put on Cephalexin 500mg after cutting my arm and was told to take 3 pills a day. After the first day i started to notice how extremely tired i was on top of a feeling of dizziness/vertigo. After a few days i also started to have lots of acid in my stomach to where i heard bubbling in it all day long as well as cramps. I also got extreme anxiety to where i couldn’t sleep at night due to hypnotic jerks. I went to my doctor at day 5 of taking it and he told me to stop immediately and start taking a probiotic to help build good bacteria back in my gut.I started feeling better the next day but its been 2 weeks since i stopped taking it and im still feeling side effects like brain fog, dizziness, tiredness and anxiety.
i had severe heart palpitations, and couldn't sleep at all, feeling restless i never had this kind of palpitations in my life.
i stopped taking this, the drug i took was cefalexin monohydrate airex 500 mg, i took 3 pills on the first day my heart was pounding the night and woke up with my i feel like my heart was coming out of my chest, i hate the fact that the doctor just gave me a prescription because i went there twice, for check up about my cold, probably got pissed so she gave me an antibiotic plus she looks like an internship i stopped taking it after palpitating for the 4th pill it was gone and then now it came back in the evening till the next day.. i was now put to ecg hoping for a normal result.

Definitely works to kill infection but the heart racing very fast and paranoia is very bad. I have two more days and I'm done I will only continue dosing because it is clearing up my staph infection. After this I will be staying away from it.
Thankfully I haven't had horrible side effects I have read from others. I am early into the medication. Just finished day 4. My side effects have been very tired, swelling still there but the extreme pain has calmed down. The worst are these random cold chills but then change to sudden hot flushed feeling. Started getting this on day 2. No major complaints but just so groggy and 😴 I just want to feel better
Sorry for all of the people who have had the worst of the worst side effects. I typically have those type of side effects on flagyl, doxycycline and clindamycin
First day I took 2 pills - got them midday. Actually felt like they might be helping a UTI clear. Second day took one at 7am. By 8 am I thought I was going to need to call 911. Heart racing - resting rate like I was climbing stairs with heavy load. Pain in my chest. Feeling faint and like I needed oxygen. Just got a bunch of ice water and started drinking to dilute and move it through me as quick as possible. Did not take another pill on Day 2 and by midafternoon those symptoms had faded. Frightened me until I put the timing together with the drug. Not taking any more and will talk to Dr about options.
Actually seemed effective at clearing the balance of my UTI but the side effects for me were frightening.

When docs open think I need to try something different
Caused me to be extremely tired, hard to keep my eyes open. Also lost my appetite. Seems to be working for the infection so I'll continue to take it. I've never experienced such extreme tiredness with any other antibiotic.
After the first dose I immediately started having major heart palpitations and anxiety. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I called my doctor who said those weren't typical side effects and to keep taking them. I took one more and immediately started experiencing more heart palpitations, chest tightness and anxiety and stopped on my own. I refuse to take this ever again.
I have been off this medication for 3 days and am still experiencing side effects, I hope I feel better soon. I cannot exercise without major heart palpitations.

First dose this year, same as last year.
While this med has truly helped my seasonal allergies and my IC symptoms - I am becoming quite concerned about the vivid dreams I am experiencing - I have been on this medication for approx. 2 months and all of a sudden the last 5 constant nights I have had horrible - nightmares - that are VERY vivid - Does anyone know if a delay in symptoms like this is possible
Terrible Dry Eyes that came on after 4 weeks of an increased dose. It was unbearable. Stomach gas, as well. I am coming off the medication due to the eye side effect. It is a trial and error with medications. I was on paxil for 4 years and it helped me a ton but I am afraid it is not safe for a pregnancy. Prozac also dried me out and gave me severe photophobia. I guess I am sensitive to medications.
I so seem to feel more hungry and have put on about 7 lbs since taking nasonex. I have had a few more cramps around my cycle time but I did suffer bad PMT anyway.

For years I was prescribed 40 mg in the morning and 40 mg at night. 80 mg a day and with all the side effects I was having you would think my doctor would suspect the drug. Heck, you would think I would suspect the drug! You are your own best advocate. Research it. There are plenty of other people online that are having the same problems you are.
Within four hours felt feverish, body aches, headache, and palpitations. Hard to tell if the affects were worse because I got the flu shot at the same time. Two days later, arm still sore, although not as bad, and still having palpitations. Since I've had shingles twice in the last year, I really hope this series of vaccines helps me from getting it again. Doctors office definitely did not prepare me for the side effects.

I stopped taking this after my prescription ran out, which wasn't wise as I relapsed soon after. Have noticed paranoia and anxiety have returned to original levels since coming off it. I am starting it again soon though as I found the effects of it quite beneficial within the time that I took it.
