Side Effects for Tiazac (diltiazem hydrochloride)
Took in the evening time.. Second day... all over body hives. Never had hives before in my life. It was the only thing in my diet that was different.
Joint pain. Severe acid reflux. Iritated eyes. Ear ringing. Weakness and increased shortness of breath. Weight gain.
120 mg did not improve symptoms and 240 mg made side effects unbearable so discontinuing entirely
swollen ankle and knee ,tiredness
did lower blood pressure within 2 days
Swoolen ankles and feet. Bad leg cramps .
180 mg is not working as well as Avapro but the side effects are a lot easier to handle
Over the years, I've taken diltiazem HCL in several forms - - generic, as cardizem and as tiazac. All have been very satisfactory. Unfortunately, this single drug (at 240 mg a day dosage)could not completely control my high BP. I now also take altace (5 mg/day) and HCTZ (10 mg/day) and my BP is generally 120/75. I was prescribed the HCTZ, a diuretic, because of slight ankle swelling thought to be associated with the tiazac.

I felt like I was having some pycholigical shut down wanting to do nothing but sleep and I slept like a baby. Now off teh medicine my chest if feeling heavy again, but you could die taking that stuff not knowing when you took it last and just a guzzle here and there. watch out!
