Novolog (insulin aspart recombinant) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Novolog (insulin aspart recombinant)

Itching sometimes with rash on arms.

I use Novolog to work for reducing after meal spikes because my Basaglar does not work well enough alone. I use around 7 at lunch and 10-12 in pen form of Novolog at dinner. 10 units for me covers about 100 grams carb meal. I think it's slower than described as my spikes happen before the Novolog can bring them down. My fasting numbers are good and if I take more Novolog I end up with lows or worse a liver purge of glucose spiking my numbers. As with any insulin therapy you have slowly develop a feel for how much to take. I'd rather be a tad to high then face a low event.

Have been on Lantus for a few years but wasn't doing enough to lower A1C so added Novolog at my biggest meal of day. It has certainly added to the fatigue I feel that Lantus has also done.

Your better off avoiding insulin as a means of reducing your A1C. Try hard to reduce carbs in your diet first. Insulin is a downward spiral of weight gain, increased need for more insulin as resistance increases. Fast acting insulin requires far more monitoring and making sure you do not take too much.

Within half hour after taking novolog I start feeling my heart beating (not fast) and feel like I am having an anxiety issue. I get a bad cough and slight tightness in my chest. This lasts most of the evening and in the morning I am fine. I have not seen any decrease in my glucose and fasting has gone way up. I have been taking lantus with no problems and I was hoping I could take a fast acting insulin at dinner time without any problems too. My doctor took me off amaryl to try novolog. I have tried other pills and all but amaryl made me very sick from the side effects. I have contacted my doctor but have not heard back. I am ready to give up trying anything new and stick with what I know doesn't make me feel bad.

Gained 60 lbs in 1.5 years. No diet changes. Fatigue, swelling, major muscle aches. I worked hard to lose 60 lbs. Had another 40 to go. And now I am back to square One thanks to this stuff.

There are no decent medications to take for diabetes type 2. All of them have awful to dangerous side affects. My diabetes can be diet controlled..but who wants to live on vegetables & protein forever? If I eat anything other than that, it goes up. I guess my options are either take these nasty drugs, or diet. Gaining 60 lbs on Novolog isn't helping.

No side-effects... if I take it. If I neglect to take it, my overall health and well-being will suffer: I'll get pale-looking, grouchy and overly thirsty.

When i was first experiencing PRE-diabetes, I noticed, before my Type 2 diagnosis, that my food wasn't giving me energy anymore... even healthy, wholesome foods. My meals would just sink to the pit of my stomach, with no noticeable energy resulting. I literally was eating, but felt under-nourished, if you can believe that. I now know that insulin is the drug that "unlocks" the energy potential of your food; and indeed, if I inject it before meals, I get a gratifying, healthy burst of food energy hours after I've finished eating. Family tell me I have healthy color in my face, and look rested when I'm actively using NOVOLOG. A useful drug-- if you don't mind needles, and poking yourself in the belly or the bum several times daily!

I use the Novolog pen. I was on Humalog since 1997 (when it came out?) and found the Novolog does not peak as severely as Humalog does and it works faster- about 10 minutes where Humalog was about 30. The only problem I experience is with the pen itself- but after receiving and READING (sometimes I don't read all instructions:-) a TIPS USING YOUR INSULIN PEN- I found the resolve. After injection and syringe removal from my skin there would be drips of insulin- so possibly missed about 3 to 5 units of the dose and needed to reapply/inject again! Resolve is to keep needly in the skin/body for 10 seconds after injecting insulin and that seems to work! And Humalog seemed to make me very flatulent and Novalog does not.

If anyone knows how I can just purchase or order the lancet PEN by itself instead of getting a whole new glucometer please contact me- thanks- I lost my lancet pen springy thing.

This med worked well for a long time. I took both Novolog R (at meals) and Novolog N (over night). My bs was around 7 which was good enough for my doctor. Then, a couple of years ago, I started having a reaction to the Novolog N. I itched on my stomach (and inside thighs) whenever I took more than 20 units. I learned, on the internet, that this happens and just the same as it did to me.Eventually, I had to stop taking the Novolog N because even 20 units caused a rash. I switched to Novolog R and that was fine but just the last few days I have started reacting to it, too. Right now I am having itching and burning all over my trunk area but I don't see a rash.

I think my reaction is relatively rare but that's what I thought when metformin cause me two years of misery and the doc said "it's not the metformin". Well, it was. According to this site, it's relatively common. Thank goodness for askapatient.com where the truth is told about meds.

Timing is a bit difficult when going out to eat because it works too well. I hate leaving the table when the food arrives to take the dosage but if I do it before we order I have too low of a dip

Try to take dose after eating as Novolog works fast and can lower bsl too fast! My endicrinologist has adjusted my base dose several times. Taking dose based on "menu" and number of carbs at lunch and dinner.

Love the convenience of the pens!

I usually wait about 15 minutes after taking Novolog before eatting to avoid the high peaks of blood sugar after meals. This med. has been amazing.

I like this much better than Humalog. When I started my insulin pump I was on Humalog. During the end of the 2nd day and well into the 3rd day on my pump site I would notice a gradual increase in my blood sugar. When I discussed this with my Dr he gave me Novolog to try and I haven't looked back. This is so much better than Humalog!

NOVOLOG (INSULIN ASPART RECOMBINANT): Insulin aspart is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Insulin aspart is a man-made product that is similar to human insulin. It replaces the insulin that your body would normally make. Insulin aspart starts working faster and lasts for a shorter time than regular insulin. It works by helping blood sugar (glucose) get into cells so your body can use it for energy. This medication is usually used with a medium- or long-acting insulin product. Extremely irritated and painful sinuses, severe headache, burning eyes, jaw and tooth pain, foggy brain, fatigue and general malaise.

Repatha worked well for first six months. Then I started getting ear infections, vertigo, scarring from injection site reaction. Cardiologist refused to prescribe something else so I found a new cardiologist. Still experiencing some ear problems 10 months after I stopped but finally seeing improvement. Plus my cholesterol is in good shape.

My insurance recently quit covering Ortho Tricyclen and the pharmacist switched me over to Trinessa. It has been a nightmare. I have constant nausea, mood swimgs, break through bleeding, heavy cramping, heavy periods, bloating, and headaches. I am not myself at all. I have gained a ton of weight in the few months that I have been on it, despite the fact that I have not changed my eating habits and continue to exercise. I am so depressed. Trinessa is TERRIBLE and needs to be taken off of the market. DO NOT SETTLE FOR TRINESSA!!!!

Due to 1/2 life of drug can still be in system for up to 5 days after course completion. Completed 2 days ago still having shortness of breath but nausea gone.

I've had good results with stabilizing my moods, however the side effects are making me wonder if the

Horrible drug, shaking, food allergies, anxiety, breathing heavy, pins and needles in hands, muscle pain in body overall felt so sick, non stop headache. I don't know why they would make such garbage only to make us more sick..

Consider somthing that works I am switching today as this isnt in my head

I have never had any health issues or headaches in my life! I've only had one shot so far (2 months ago) and will ABSOLUTELY not get another!!! I wish I had done more research before choosing this terrible birth control. My headaches started a few weeks after getting the shot, and have continued everyday since. Sometimes I can't concentrate while driving or at work. I DO NOT recommend anyone trying this drug. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

3 weeks into treatment...back muscle spasms/aches..hardly can get out of bed in AM. Although it's not a statin..since I had the same side effects from 5 of those..I am not surprised...Am no longer going to take it or any other "drug". All heart studies normal..so diet and exercise will be my lifestyle..I'm fed up with trying prescription drugs.

The next time I want to create chemical burns on my face I'll at least go for Hydrochloric Acid or Sulfuric Acid - - - at least they're cheaper and have a cooler name than Duac.
