Epivir (lamivudine) Side Effects, Uses Dosages

Side Effects for Epivir (lamivudine)

Very easy HIV drug to take as part of your combination. Small tablet, with or without food.

EPIVIR (LAMIVUDINE): This drug is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. It helps to decrease the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better. This lowers your chance of getting HIV complications (such as new infections, cancer) and improves your quality of life. Lamivudine belongs to a class of drugs known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors-NRTI. Lamivudine is not a cure for HIV infection. To decrease your risk of spreading HIV disease to others, do all of the following: (1) continue to take all HIV medications exactly as prescribed by your doctor, (2) always use an effective barrier method (latex or polyurethane condoms/dental dams) during all sexual activity, and (3) do not share personal items (such as needles/syringes, toothbrushes, and razors) that may have contacted blood or other body fluids. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

Very indirect sort of side effect: It lead me to delay TURP surgery which was ultimately what I needed. Also: It greatly reduced the amount of money in my wallet. This stuff ain't cheap.

I am thankful to have found this website and discover the discharge is not uncommon. I was planning to call my ob-gyn in the morning to find out if this side effect was normal. Also, I've been feeling occasional cramping as if my period were coming (it's not due for another week). When I noticed the discharge would not go away I scoured the pamphlet and saw that "discharge" was a side effect, but there needs to be a description. This white cottage-cheese discharge is freaky and disgusting and is not what comes to mind when I read "discharge".

C, diff after taking clindamycin

Sedation to the point of incapacitation from even a low dose, to the point that I couldn't work. Took myself down to 5mg once per day (tapering) and experienced worst migraine of my life with severe vomiting. Still have daily headaches, and hot flashes/ sweating that started after taking the drug. Coming off it entirely. It did help the IC pain at 10Mg but not at the cost of being unable to work.

irritability, depression, fatigue

Great until today. Causes very entertaining vivid dreams until you get a not so entertaining one (anxiety). Usually puts me right to sleep but today I had a steroid shot in my spine as well as an anesthetic shot in each ipsoas muscle. Must be interacting with the Baclofen. Zooming thoughts, facebook rants (oh well). Bad headache.

Weight gain, shoulder pain bad enough to disrupt sleep and keep me in constant pain, muscle weakness and fatigue, blurred vision... Almost all of the symptoms described by other patients I have experienced, except the hair loss.

I'm going to ask my dr. for something else next week. I still cant sit still and focus at work. The only thing positive that I can say is that I'm not going str8 to bed after work. I'm not exhausted like I was but still very tired...I guess my expectations were too high :-(

In 2012, my then doctor prescribed that I take Loestrin 24 FE because my cycle was ridiculously heavy and unpredictable. It was not uncommon for me to have more than one heavy cycle in a single month. There were many side effects but the worst, by far, for me was that the medication caused 2/3 of my hair to fall out; my hair fell out in clumps/handfuls, leaving my scalp sore for 6 months or more. I stopped talking this monster medicine after 4 months of torture. So, not only did my period not get any better. .. I became perniciously anemic -- but I also now had to deal with the loss of my perennially thick hair. That was two years ago. Thankfully, my hair has grown back. .. not the length (yet) but certainly the fullness/thickness. My periods are, unfortunately, the same. I now take a prescription iron supplement which has been a God send. Stay away from this birth control.

severe mood swings, no period, inability to lose weight, no energy, inability to get pregnant for 5 years after taking it
