Side Effects for Seroquel (quetiapine fumarate)

SEROQUEL (QUETIAPINE FUMARATE): This medication is used to treat certain mental/mood conditions (such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, sudden episodes of mania or depression associated with bipolar disorder). Quetiapine is known as an anti-psychotic drug (atypical type). It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain. This medication can decrease hallucinations and improve your concentration. It helps you to think more clearly and positively about yourself, feel less nervous, and take a more active part in everyday life. It may also improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level. Quetiapine can help prevent severe mood swings or decrease how often mood swings occur. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

great drug. BUT painful 4 hour erections in the am

I still get very tired in the afternoon. Also, not sure if this is cymbalta, but I have a swishy feeling in my ears (not a ringing--more of a cloudy sensation) that comes and goes.

This is a horribly addictive drug. I am unable to get off of it. When I try to stop it I get psychotic. I was a normal person 1 year ago. Now I am housebound and in pain. Think about suicide all the time. This drug is only supposed to be prescribed for short periods of time. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG. IT WILL SUCK YOU IN FOR LIFE WHETHER YOU THINK SO OR NOT.

at first a little dizzy and sleepy

My mouth tastes like pennies... even the next day.I had to ask my friends if my water was contaminated. It turns out, it is a side effect.

My doctor said he's never heard of some of the side effects I complained about. I don't understand that. So many people on this site have reported my symptoms. Why don't doctors know this drug has these horrible side effects. I told my doctor I am not taking this drug anymore. After going off drug, in 1 day my symptoms started to go away. Been 5 days now and am slowly returning back to normal.

started out on 10 mg, horrible side effects, chest pains, some shortness of breath, extremely tired-took 10 mg for 3 days-dr then reduced disage to 2.5. So far after 4 days, feel great-but still some tiredness and now diarrhea and leg swelling. Also feet cramps. But BP is great and I can live with these side effects (for a while) unless they get worse.
