Side Effects for Effient (prasugrel hydrochloride)

EFFIENT (PRASUGREL HYDROCHLORIDE): Prasugrel is used with aspirin by patients with heart disease (recent heart attack, unstable angina) who undergo a certain heart procedure (angioplasty). This medication helps to prevent other serious heart/blood vessel problems (such as heart attacks, strokes, blood clots in stents). It works by blocking platelets from sticking together and prevents them from forming harmful blood clots. This "anti-platelet" effect helps to keep blood flowing smoothly in your body. I do believe this pill can be useful in some circumstances and is worth trying, but discuss the risks and side effects with your doctor. My doctor said all of these symptoms were possible and we decided it was still worth trying for the condition that I have. Not the worst thing in the world, but not for me.

DO NOT TAKE CIPRO UNLESS YOU HAVE A LIFE THREATENING CONDITION!!!! I never had anxiety before. I got such debilitating anxiety that my husband had to take a leave from work because I couldn't be left alone. Insomnia I wouldn't sleep for days. I'm in a lot of pain, muscles and joints. Within the first week of stopping Cipro I couldn't eat and lost 7 pounds in 1 week. My worst pain showed up 5 weeks after stopping the drug. I am now over 2 months out and I still have a lot of pain but anxiety is gone. The worst drug I have ever took and will NEVER take it again!

Diarrhea, Nausea, Headaches, Increased Blood Glucose Levels (though could be from other meds as well), Peeing all the time, Occasional Vomiting (2 to 3 times a week), and random level spikes, pimples like a 12 year old, and my hair is slowly falling out.

I work out like a fiend, don't eat much bread or junk and have always been able to wear the same clothes. Today I couldn't fit into the ski pants that I could fit into when I was 4 months post-partum with my second child only one year ago. That freaked me out! I am doing NOTHING differently, in fact, I exercise more and eat better because my abdomen, which has always been flat, seems flabby and bloated all the time. I am getting OFF this drug!!! The blurry vision is probably because of my age, but we will see if it gets better once I am off.

Used to have daily acid reflux/heartburn pre-2000. Nexium did make that disappear, but many other problems subtly crept up that peaked recently with severe lower-left abdominal pain lasting weeks. All the other effects over the past 8 years seem to be coming together like a puzzle. Stopped Nexium and used TUMS a few times a day as wife started a Weight Watchers diet for me with decreased coffee and processed food. After 5 days. NO MORE HEARTBURN. Time to take care of yourself as the Nexium studies show... there are no controlled studies after 6 months!

sudden loss of appetite on starting prozac, then once body adjusted over eating. rapid thoughts, mania, numb sexually and emotionally.

Would not have been able to tour Italy without it. Seems a good choice for BPH and a necessity following brachytherapy or Radiation Therapy. Think about self-catheterization before you rule out this drug.

After my diagnosis in 1999, I spent years trying different drugs that had side effects I couldn't tolerate. This drug has worked perfectly for me. Ironically, my Dad, who is a GP, tells me that Mysoline is a step away from the phenobarbitol I was given for a time as a young child.

This medication has helped me more than almost anything else. Only thing I hated was that when I did have a severe panic attack, it could take up to 2 hours for me to start to see effects and wind down; the flip side is that it has a long half-life (upto 50 hrs) and chilled me out and returned me to normal. Never a "high" or "doped-up" feeling, just an overall sense of calm and serenity. Combined with an SSRI and Neurontin, this combination helped me go from scared to death of people to be able to chill and just enjoy the company of friends without my brain going 1000mph.

My doc prescribe tramadol year ago and I've been very satisfied. I've had less pain and a great perk is that I'm more social than I was before and have a lot more patience. I have four teenagers and found that this helps me deal with everyday life better, which is a good thing for everyone in my household:-) I'm sad to hear of those that are addicted..they should have stuck with the dose the doc prescribed. They really do know what's best for you. I just hope that if someone is experiencing pain they should read the more positive reviews and a least give it a try. Everyone reacts differently. Pain is not fun to deal with, but please try to keep a positive outlook and that in itself well carry you far.
