Side Effects for Visken (pindolol)

It helped with the POTS but caused massive hair loss. Had to stop taking it after 4 weeks.

PSVT, orthostatic hypotension, POTS

None, as far as I can tell. I have several chronic conditions, so any potential side effects could have been explained away by me as part of these issues.

This medication changed my life for the better. I was SO sick due to my autonomic dysfunction and all that it entailed. I felt like I got my life back.

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia

Gave me migraines, depression and messed up my blood sugar...I became hypoglycemic. Plus, I experienced severe pain in my joints. Not a good medicine for me!

VISKEN (PINDOLOL): This medication is used alone or with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems. Pindolol belongs to a class of medications called beta-blockers. It works by blocking the effects of certain natural substances (such as epinephrine) on the heart and blood vessels. This results in a lowering of the heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart. (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA) Download our Free Resource Guide:

I've taken the generic of this med (Famotidine) before for stomach issues and gastritis, and it was extremely difficult to do. Was on it for months, with limited success, but the side effects were very hard to tolerate. I finally weaned off it and hadn't taken it again for almost two years. I recently tried it again and just could deal with the way it made me feel. Took it for about seven days and had the most uncomfortable painful bloating and gas...I thought I was going to explode and burst my stomach/intestines. Very nauseous too. Made me feel very sick all over. So uncomfortable that I couldn't stand it. I was doubled over in pain. I'm sensitive to many drugs and this one is the most unpleasant one I think I've ever taken. I'll have to made due with Tums. Be very careful taking this drug.

Terrible anxiety resulting in frequent panic attacks that completely destroyed my life for several years whilst I was on it.Blood pressure used to suddenly soar for no reason with veins in my neck feeling like they were going to burst.Constant dull pain in the right side of my chest that never went away.Breathing would improve for a short period whilst using it but breathing began to get worse and worse the longer I was on it.I actually ended up more breathless after I was on pulmicort for a long period of time than before being on it. It got to the point where I would take it and within an hour or so I was having terrible panic attacks and raised blood pressure.Several times I thought I was going to simply 'burst' and ended up in ER on numerous occasions. I can fully understand why some people have ended up in mental hospitals as a result of this so-called medicine.Medical staff seemed to believe that I was simply suffering from anxiety and panic disorder and

yeast infection from antibiotics

Daughter on respirator ET tube family not told she received this drug. Daughter did not take medication prior to this hospitalation. Billed $231 for each day Very unhappy Daughter died

If I take it and don't go straight to bed, I get these odd visual hallucinations that make it hard to judge proportions. Shapes on the PC screen, for instance, begin to move around a bit. My balance is also off. It's not an unpleasurable feeling, as long as you don't have to work or deal wth the kids.

Symptoms of diabetes e.g high blood sugar levels diminished effectively by dietary control - complete omission of refined sugar. GP assured me long term use of nicotine chewing gum would have no harmful effect in the long term and that its use not related to elevated blood sugar levels. Subsequent to ceasing taking nicorettes completely (which required a near super-human effort) all type 2 symptoms have vanished with the support of evidence from regular bold tests. When I started taking nicorettes there was no advice on long term effects. According to what I have read recently there is an absence of definitive research on its effects over time especially if the 'recommended' usage period is exceeded. In my opinion nicorettes are very highly addictive and appear to have profoundly affected my life by the presentation of type 2 symptoms. The GPs I have spoken to over many years appear to be quite ignorant of the addictive and pharmaceutical potential effects. I bitterly regret having spent so much money on the product over such a long time. Quite scandalous when I think about it.

I do not recommend taking Tamiflu unless you have no other option. I do feel like my flu has gone, but the intestinal distress was not worth it. Plus, it's expensive, even with insurance.

So far only one migraine and the tiredness is starting to fade. I sleep well now.

didn't really stop bleeding all together, but is somewhat better, but not worth the side effects
