Side Effects for Prinzide (hydrochlorothiazide; lisinopril)

This medicine was really effective at lowering my bp but I switched to a different medicine because I couldn't handle the COUGHING. I've been on this for 2 years, and the cough creeps up on you. At first it's just a little cough, then builds over time to a dry (no phlegm!) hacking cough that you feel a tickle in your throat that won't ever go away. I was coughing so much and so intensely that I would accidentally vomit if I ate recently, or gag.

I took half of a 10 MG tablet every morning along with the Atenolol I am already on. I had to stop taking the medication after just 13 days due to a severe dry cough that developed, accompanied by dizziness, drowsiness, and headache. I was very disappointed, as the medication kept my blood pressure well controlled.

Dry cough at first, then gagging to the brink of vomiting. Switched to Hyzaar (Losartan-HCTZ), it was worse after 2 tabs.

Worked great until dry coughing started. It did drop my BP to normal levels.

My blood pressure went down in about three weeks, but I began to cough after about a week and eventually coughed so much and so hard my ribs were sore. I've stopped taking it.

I have read in some sources that a cough in these circumstances is often accompanied by other problems that are not so obvious. I'm no expert, but it's worth asking your doctor about if you have a cough from this medication and s/he recommends you continue it anyway.

dry, hacking cough - often to the point of dizziness or vomiting

No side effects but it did not lower my blood pressure.

I would not recommend taking this medicine. It would open my sinus cavity, but mucus would gather in my throat and stay stuck there until I took something like mucinex or something. Was clearing my throat all day and sometimes could not cough it up. And, it put sores in my nose and my nose was DRY. Began to have dreams so vivid that I thought they were real.

After you get through the initial getting used to the medication, it is great! I have always felt though that my emotions were very flat and I don't think I cried for a year and a half! Some people wouldn't say that is a bad thing though. But sooner or later you just get that feeling that you should be feeling more emotions than you really are. Good luck to all. If anyone would like to talk with me about their experiences, please feel free to email me.

I visited the doctor this week with numerous troubling symptoms. He scheduled me for a barrage of tests. It suddenly dawned on me that my symptoms began about the time I began using Nasonex. In researching the drug, I found this website. I was amazed to see the number of people whose symptoms were just like mine. I quit using Nasonex two days ago and I am already feeling much better. I'll go ahead with the tests just in case, but I'm convinced that Nasonex was the cause of my problems.

Side effects if any, are very minimal. May have felt slightly jittery the first week taking, but that has gone away.

Bloated stomach, diarrhea, gas, constipation, weight gain, dizziness, developed vertigo (severe) right when I began taking nexium but never made any connection til reading this site (I was searching for evidence that it causes stomach bloating).

Daily headaches. I also started on hormones and thought that might be causing them but as I'm reading this I'm thinking it's the Lipitor. I haven't been on it long enough to know if it reduces my cholesterol but even if it does I don't know if I'll continue to take it if the headaches don't go away.

I took it for 14 days actually, nothing weird. Spotting on the 6th day and then about 2 days after last pill, HEAVY bleeding. Couldn't walk, in constant pain, back ache, cramps, couldn't eat. Going through a super plus tampon within 30 minutes. Disgusting. Mood swings, throwing up, dizzy, can't sleep.

I am writing on behalf of my sister who had the combination of Versed and Demerol for pancreatic duct exploratory surgery. The surgeon didn't tell her until 6 months later that she coded (died) on the table and was revived. She will never have these medications again. She has autonomic insufficiency to start with, and this drug set off a life-threatening reaction.

hot flashes, significant mood swings, weight gain, skin crawl

Severe stomach spasms, cramping, nausea, bloating, pain and no bowel movement for 2 to 3 days. When BM did happen it was pebbles.
