Side Effects for Sarafem (fluoxetine hydrochloride)

SARAFEM (FLUOXETINE HYDROCHLORIDE): Fluoxetine is used to treat depression, panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorder, a certain eating disorder (bulimia), and a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). This medication may improve your mood, sleep, appetite, and energy level and may help restore your interest in daily living. It may decrease fear, anxiety, unwanted thoughts, and the number of panic attacks. It may also reduce the urge to perform repeated tasks (compulsions such as hand-washing, counting, and checking) that interfere with daily living. Fluoxetine may lessen premenstrual symptoms such as irritability, increased appetite, and depression. It may decrease binging and purging behaviors in bulimia. although estring relieved the vagina atrophy, I noticed a dramatic thinning of my hair. I have been using estring for approx. 15 months. I also noticed, especially in the last 5 mos.,an increase of depression with somewhat suicidal thoughts. Nothing has changed in my life to bring me to this point. I had no reason to feel depressed at all! I recently had a form of vaginitis after getting over a terrible case of the flu. During my treatment, I stop using the estring for a week. I immidately noticed a difference in my attitude and my depressing lifted within that week. No more suicidal thoughts what-so-ever. I feel good and content...normal, how I use to feel prior to using the estring. My hair also stopped falling out as much. I started to also use a hair product from GNC website called "REVITA". It worked amazingly in thickening my hair and preventing it from falling out in clumps as before. I have since stop using the estring(2 mos. now) and feel great! I am cont

This is the once a month dosage. After 2 days notice side effects. Couldn't figure out at first what was causing my chest and back pain. Then read side effects from pharmacy brochure and I knew it was the Boniva. Never again am I taking this drug.

Was having weird allergic reactions to just about everything, couldn't find anything that worked. Allergist suggested to use this because I was also getting a skin rash and nothing was working to stop my anaphylactic reactions. This is a miracle drug for me but this last injection I got an all over body rash not sure if it's related to injection but not on any other medications and have eliminated any other outside reasons.

My doctor said people can do well for 10 years, 6 years ago when I began... I notice my overall health and energy is less than it used to be. I take 500mg one day and 1000mg the next. I told the Doc I feel like I am taking poison..he said, "yes it is poison for your platelets." (Unfortunately hydrea doesn't travel only to your platelets, it is in your bloodstream)....It was keeping my platelets at a reasonable number, but they have been climbing up over the past 6 months, which means I will need to take a larger dose in the near future.. It is apparent to me, that I am becoming more immune to the current dosage...the alternatives are worse than hydrea...One person in 100,000 get this disease, so there is not much much research being done. In the last year I was put on Pravastatin, and Plavix. (I am allergic to aspirin.) I am thin and don't eat meat, and my diet is fairly healthy. I walk 5 times a week, but have trouble with weight bearing exercise. So we take it a day at a time. It is better than having a stroke or a heart attack from ET.

Bloatedness, constipation, feeling hungry all the time (leading to weight gain), anxiety, depression. Skin only OK - not great!

Fatigue, bone pain, joint pain, depression, loss of sex drive and vaginal dryness. Inability to concentrate and make decisions.

took for 3 days. after each day became more difficult to breathe. on 3rd day almost called 911. doctor told me allergic reaction and to stop. HOWEVER, for each pill you have taken, you have to wait 6 hours. So, I had taken 7 pills, and it took about 42 hours (roughly 2 days) to be able to breathe normally again. VERY SCARY! especially cuz I have asthma and it was smog season (July).

None..On occassions, get flushing in face for about 2-3 min but subsides

weight gain, lethargic, night sweats. THE WITHDRAWELS ARE TERRIBLE AND COULD RUIN YOUR LIFE!!!!!!
