Side Effects for Lamictal cd (lamotrigine)

LAMICTAL CD (LAMOTRIGINE): Lamotrigine is used alone or with other medications to prevent and control seizures. It may also be used to help prevent the extreme mood swings of bipolar disorder in adults. Lamotrigine is known as an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug. It is thought to work by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain. This drug is not approved for use in children younger than 2 years due to an increased risk of side effects (such as infections). (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

never really had any except sleepiness a little in the beginning but no side effects after few days...can even take 4mg a day without being overly sleepy and can function fine!..have ambien for sleeplessness too just in case. i typically switch back and forth each year between ativan and xanax and have had no problems with either! nothing better for anxiety!

10 mg lowered my cholesterol in the first 6 months. Continues to decrease with each blood test. Risk factor is down to 2.2

Back surgery and cervical herniation

Experienced drowsiness on 800/mg so cut dosage in half taking 400/mg - one at breakfast and one at lunch...then 800/mg at bedtime which enabled me to sleep quite well.

Constant heavy daily bleeding, fatigue, abdominal pain, urinary tract infection, and 15 lbs weight gain.

Wow. This has been an eye opener. I came to this site for another medication, but I think I've finally put this together. My 3 1/2 year old has been very aggressive. In fact, got in trouble today at sunday school for starting a fight with a child. He has also been hyper, unusually loud, and has screaming fits. However, a few weeks ago we traveled home to Chicago. We were out of our routine, and I kept forgetting to give him his daily dose of singulair. I noticed that my child was so well mannered, calm, and tried to assist his younger cousin whenever she would have an emotional meltdown. I thought, wow, he's growing up and maturing. Not so. When I returned home, we returned to our usual one dose in the morning of singulair, and he was back to his very difficult self -- constnatly wanting my attention, getting upset at the drop of a hat, difficult sleeping. I think I may have found the culprit. I'm going to keep him off for a week and see if there's a noticeable difference.

Anger, sleepiness, depression, binge eating, crying uncontrollably, fighting with people over nothing. URINARY RETENTION. Just misery. What a terrible drug. I'm withdrawing, and it takes forever to get out of your system. I haven't peed without a catheter in 2 days. I want my bladder control back!!!

I have been on this pill for about 7 1/2 years with no problems whatsoever. Periods start like clockwork when they are supposed to. I could almost set my watch by it.

Was on Lortab for 4 years, 40 mg a day until doctor realized it wasn't working any longer. Now taking 15 mg twice a day with the Lortab and I can walk, do stairs, drive, etc without killer pain

I have been on Cymbalta now for 3 weeks. Started at 30mg for 2 weeks, then upped to 60 mg for 6 days and 120 mg for the last 2 days. Medicine seems to be kicking in over the last 2 days. I have been able to go without taking any Xanax for anxiety for 2 days. Also, my mood has been better.I hope this works - have been in my current episode of depression for 5 months now. Have tried 3 different medications and nothing has worked. Am cautiously optimistic about Cymbalta. If it keeps working, I will be back in a week to give it a full5 instead of just a 4 rating!?
