Side Effects for Zyvox (linezolid)
Giddiness and severe insomnia, out of body feeling and anxiety.
I had severe impetigo on my face from staph bacteria. After numerous antibiotics, I eventually was prescribed Zyvox. My infection cleared within 2 days! However, after starting Zyvox my face became extremely sensitive to facial products. Two weeks after ending Zyvox, my arms and ankles started getting bumps on them which looked to my like focullitis. However, my dermatologist told me I have eczema. There is no way I have eczema because I have had perfect skin before the staph infection. More rashes are appearing on my hands and face but do not look like the first time I had staph. After researching more on Zyvox I found out that you can start having reactions to the antibiotic a few weeks after you stop the medicine. The rashes aren't horrible but they do itch and are extremely red. They range from small lesions to bumps to just patches of reddness.
Would use this medication again if the staph infection comes back. It really works on resistant staph bacteria. The medicine was VERY expensive and cost me nearly $1800!

I did have my blood pressure spike because I wasn't told not to eat food with tyramine in it which is most hard cheeses. There was some nausea.
This medication in the oral form allowed me to get out of the hospital and go home to recuperate. If you are on this and experience side effects get your doctor to do some blood work.

I felt very unwell while taking it but it helped somewhat.

ZYVOX (LINEZOLID): Linezolid is an antibiotic used to treat certain serious bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. Linezolid also belongs to a class of drugs known as MAO inhibitors. It can increase the levels of certain natural substances in the body (such as dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin) which can increase the chance of certain side effects and food and drug interactions. Please do not use this drug, dr gave me this to add to my oxycodone. I took it and within the hour it effected my breathing, heart palpitations, cloudy and foggy head, black spots, and still having trouble seeing after 5 day and only took one pill 5 days ago, heart still racing and heart palpitations, going to er today because I've never in my life been so scared. Vision is wavy and foggy, and images are like a fu. House mirror. Been waiting it out to see if it flies away but has not. This is a synthetic drug. Avoid Please do not take this drug. You do not want to experience what I am going through. I'll take the pain any day over this.
This stuff is poison... I began taking this alongside Flonase, and nighttime Mucinex pm as my allergies and sinus pain hit me like a ton of bricks in mid April.Continued taking this garbage for a month, as it collectively seemed to keep my symptoms mostly at bay for a bit.Until it didn't... and I felt like it was making me way more brain-foggy, depressed and irritable than I've ever felt. Anxiety went up a lot as well. Just generally feeling like I'm numb and muted, and I've been off of this poison combo for about a week now and I still feel like blehhhh.I've recently signed up for Curex, a natural immunotherapy company that offers a spray that you take for about a year that will (fingers crossed) cure my allergies naturally by this time next year.Stop taking this poison crap from big pharma. I feel like a zombie from this stuff and I regret not trying the natural route way sooner.
Had been on Raptiva for 2 yr.with some improvement.Started Humira 6 weeks ago and until last week would have given it a 5.Little red spots started appearing all over my arm. It almost looked like measles and has now spread to my other arm and my legs.
The doc said he had to give me 2 1/2 times the normal amount to get me down along with demerol for pain. The versed portion felt great I can remember pretty much everything including the wonderful dreams I was having.

while the side effects arent fun to deal with (esp the weight gain) I slept very sound for the first time in years. At first I had a hard time getting up and going in the am but now I am up at at'em! I do feel I have a ton more energy and dont NEED a 2 hr midday nap anymore. I do have to take it at nite but it does make me sleepy initially. The depression and anxiety are completely GONE!! Overall I think it works well but I am concerned about the side effects of weight gain and high cholesterol...switching to Abilify next week....
