Side Effects for E.e.s. (erythromycin ethylsuccinate)

they worked really well on my skin but gave me quite severe mood swings and feelings of anxiety and depression and occasional suicidal thoughts which really frightened me, im certain that these drugs played a role in how i was feeling although there may have been other causes this was themain cause because before i was taking them and after i stopped taking them i was feeling okay again i've takenother antibiotics to help my skin and every time i have been on them i have came to the same conclusion that they affect my mood to a serious degree which i cant handle and so i come off of them.

I think that this medication can be very dangerous and especially if its taken over a long period of time (for me around 1-2 months or more could have a serious affect on me) and people should be informed at how this medication can cause serious mood swings/depression/anxiety. This i feel should be put on the side effects list as there are others who have had a similar problem as i have had. I think that there should be some action taken on this if possible as i wouldn't one anyone to have the same experience i have had. Generally with this drug i think you should be very cautious and sensible and i think try to take the least dosage you possibly can as this will hopefully reduce these side effects or so i have been told.

Cured the sore throat which later culture info pointed to a staph infection with resistance to penicillins so this was a good choice for antibiotic. I might add this was a second try on this problem because the first was ENT and gave me nothing. The second GP believed me and did something and later on my own I found out the culture results that the first had never followed up on.

E.E.S. (ERYTHROMYCIN ETHYLSUCCINATE): Erythromycin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It may also be used to prevent certain bacterial infections. Erythromycin is known as a macrolide antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats or prevents only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. This is the worst OTC I've ever taken. Several hours after taking it I noticed itching and a swollen area on my face which spread around the entire bottom of my face to my neck area where whelps developed. My entire head was itching, eventually spreading to my eyes. I didn't know it was the Aleve and took it again the second day for menstrual cramps, side effects became worse and I had a lump in my throat. I was out of work and went to the doctor and was prescribed Zyrtec and Atarax which helped some. I also took Benadryl which helped tremendously in combo with everything else. I will NEVER take Aleve or NSAIDS ever ever again.

OSTEOARTHRITIS, WRIST, NECK, TOE

after having sinus surgery and having complications from it that other antibiotics were unable to cure, i developed bronchitis and pneumonia...this antibiotic is amazing! Finally got everything cleared up after 2 months of constantly being sick.

Severe leg muscle pain and leg cramping which started gradually and within four weeks interfered with my ability to drive because of calf muscle cramping. I have been informed by my doctor that my LDL was much improved over the short period while I was on the drug. However, this drug has caused a major change in my life style. Although I stopped this drug three months ago and I was assured the leg pain would resolve, I have been unable to function because of the continuous leg pain and discomfort.

I've just started on Lamictal but am experiencing such irritability I can't stand it - I'm also very tired. Can anyone offer help? Does it go away. I've had similar experiences with Trilptal and even worse irritability with Topomax. Verapimil didn't work. I feel like I'm out of options because depakote and lithium aren't a possibility.

This drug is poison and must be avoided. Shame on Physicians who prescribe it as first line medicine. These should be given as last resort only.

Cognitive blunting, spending money, sleepy, fatigue. Took 80 mg at night with supper. Was supposed to help me sleep.

Inability to focus, short-term memory loss, bizarre dreams, sleep paralysis, diminished vocabulary, I can no longer drive because I zone out all the time, I've had to put this short story I'm writing on an indefinite pause because I just have no idea what's going on in it anymore. . .

After 16 years of nightly insomnia, this was a miracle drug for me. I first starting buying it in Canada as Zopiclone in 1999 before Sepracor obtained the patent for the USA, eliminated parts of the zopiclone formulation and re-issued it as Eszopiclone (Lunesta). I have never looked back. For the first time in 16 years I was able to hold down a difficult job (up to my mental capabilities). Without it, I'm just taking up space. Only wish we had approval for it here in the UK because the old formula sucks (BAD side effects). I fly home periodically to stock up rather than risk importing through customs. Yes, I have built up tolerance, increased my intake to 6 mg, and gone off of it -- usually once per year does the trick. It is SO worth it, even though extremely expensive for me, especially considering airfare and time off work. But -- I have a LIFE now!
